Default BEST SITES FOR CARD QUOTES AND SAYINGS

What are the best sites for card quotes and sayings. I want to make some stamped cards with printed sayings and I am having a really hard time finding suitable sayings. I want to make all occassion cards, funny cards, sympathy cards, religious, love, friendship, etc...

What are the favorite sites you guys go to?

Truth be told I have had the most success by referring to greeting cards received by DH and myself. A lot of the greeting websites I've been to aren't superbly organised, and we have scanned through greetings for hours to find messages we're happy with for just a few cards. I mounted all of the cards we received around our wedding in a scrapbook, and have since referred to it very conveniently for cards I've made for friends. That wasn't my intention when I scrapbooked the cards, though!

I have gotten invitation wording from going to www.verseit.com - they have words for all sorts of stuff.

I'm with you that twopeas has the BEST quotes and poems and such.

When you do a word search for a particular topic, like Christmas or gratitude, there will be pages and pages and pages of stuff. It might take going through 200 entries to find something that really fits what you want, but I have always found a gem in the end!

I have a computer greeting card program (Creatacard) - since before I discovered I really could stamp. But I do use some of the verses from their examples. I have copied and pasted into documents so I have a collection to refer to. I have also found it easier to print directly on the inside card stock.

Heidi,
finally had a chance to go back and check out the sites you listed -- WoW!
You posted some real "keepers" -- I must say that www.brainyquotes.com is the most incredible quote site I've ever visited -- thanks so much for sharing these!

I also really like the "Quote, Unquote" books. They are around $15 each, and there are several issues. I like the song verse one the best. You can find them at a lot of local scrapbook stores, such as Archivers.

A shameless plug here....I have a two book set (Ultimate Guide to Cards and Ultimate Guide for the Perfect Word) still in the original shrink wrap, for sale for $12.50 which includes shipping. The individual books sell for about $20.00 each in stores and in craft catalogs! I have a set and use it often for quotes.

I'm intriqued by a "hard copy" source for quotes, etc. Please tell us more about these books...maybe a couple of examples of the type of stuff they have in them. Do they have suggestion on what to write as the handwritten part of a card? I have one book that is like that and I use it all the time -- it's an invaluable resource and if I could get another with different stuff, I would jump at it.

The incredible little book I have is called, "Finding the Right Words - Perfect Phrases to Personalize Your Greeting Cards", by J. Beverly Daniel. I found it at Barnes and Noble for $9.95. It's a handy 6"X6" size so it's easy to hold and look through. It has really nice suggestions of what to say for any occasion - it is divided into categories and I have page flags added to make for quick reference. I use this book with practically EVERY card I mail out - it has really reduced the stress of "what do I say?" and I'm able to get cards out in the mail in a timely manner.

If anyone knows of other books of this type, please post it here so we can check them out!
