Default Attention all Hollo's shoppers

My girlfriend is making a Hollo's run for me next week.
I love the 1.00/lb CS and the scratch paper. What else
is a good deal? I was there last week, but I didn't have time
to really look. I was in and out.
Anyone have any Hollo's favorites???

The scotch double stick tape is only $1.99 there, cheapest I've found. I pretty much just get that and their envelopes. One time I got a whole stack of styrafoam trays, They are good to have for doing the shaving cream technique or to squirt some Mod Podge in when making lunch tins.

I don't buy the CS because I find the color selection si hit or miss and I really just prefer to use SU CS.

Default metallic papers

My favorite find at Hollo's (and this was at least a couple of years ago) was a stack of postcard sized gold cardstock. I'm still using it for layering and with my Wizard. Also, got it in silver--and it is like a mirrored finish. There must have been at least 100 postcards in each stack; and each cost $2. This is probably one of those things that they don't always have . . . but I got lucky.

When I was in Ohio last week I found a HUGE box of old pictures.
They are from 1890-1940's. I want to go through them and mount them on CS and try to identify the people. If I used SU! it would be too expensive. Also I like the neutral colors for things like that.

Do they have envelopes similiar to SU!? I don't like to use my SU! envelopes all the time.

Thanks for the imput!!

I live about 10 minutes away from Hollo's. Lucky me! They have envelopes like SU for only 4 cents a piece in about every color you could think of. I mostly buy white and cream, but they have a rainbow of colors to choose from. There are also various sized square envelopes ( I'm not sure about 3x3)and legal sized envelopes for tall cards. I believe the square envelopes are mostly white, but the legal sized have more colors to choose from.

You never know what you're going to find there. I really like the white cardstock they carry. It's the only thing I use. And at a dollar a pound you can get a lot! There are boxes you can buy to stamp on, as well as french fry containers for 3 cents a piece. Sometimes they have watercolor paper by the pound - I've never used it. They have a pretty decent scrapbooking section with papers and stickers. You can also find templates for embossing. The list goes on and on!

Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions. I'm usually there at least two times a month.

Where is Hollo's located? Is it a single store or a chain? I have never heard of it.

My sis lives 20 minutes from there ... her daughter's baby shower is Aug 12 ... I will definitely hit Hollos BEFORE going to the shower!!!! Love it, love it, love it!!!!

The have plain white "apple bags" that are great for stamping/decorating and using as gift bags!!! I need to restock my supply of these.

Be sure and get the envelopes!!!! These are all I use. You can't go wrong with the paper either - lots of colors to choose from. I am about 40 minutes from there and make many trips during the year. Well worth it.

Hollo's is in Brunswick, Ohio, about 30 minutes (by highway) south of Cleveland. As far as I know, it's a single store, family-run. It's in a small building, you could pass right by it and not know it is there, and the inside is sort of small, cramped, and ware-housey...but you can get some good deals on bulk paper items there. Like Cindy, I prefer the SU! Cardstock, but I have used Hollo's cardstock for matting photos and other things when I scrapbook. Also, the envelopes are a great deal! Haven't found anything less expensive anywhere else! the best deal I've gotten there was a huge roll of newprint that I use to cover my tables when stamping. Paid six dollars over a year ago, and still have tons left! You can also PM me if you have any specific questions.

Here's their web page. Like Debbiesun, I'm only a few minutes away. I get my envies there all the time. I was just there and did see square envies in mulitple sizes. I get tons of white and other neutral colored cs as well as black there. They also have felt (watercolor type) standard envelopes for .04 each. Good stuff..

Hollo's is most definitely worth the trip. I am pretty well stocked up right now, but there's always room for more. I love that I don't have to scrounge or hoard my cardstock.
Plus, they always have some cool new thing, and it is cheap cheap cheap!!They mark their papers acid/lignin free, so it's easy to know what's Ok for scrapping.
RUN..don't walk to Hollo's! You will love it.

Okay, saw this thread and wanted to post my support for Hollos too! My mom lives in Ohio so I can get there when I visit. Love the envies. Love that my mom picks up what I need!

Advice: Have fun. Give yourself lots of time. Leave DH at home!

I lOVE Hollos also!! I live about 2 hours away and go 3-4 times a year. You can get a HUGE stack of paper for dollars!! My advise is to watch the CS weight. It is posted by each color but different weight paper is stocked side by side. Their envies are great and all I use. Have fun....GREAT store!! Their hours: Mon-Fri 9-7, Sat 9-5, Sun 11-4

I love Hollo's, also! I always buy their two-sided 8 1/2x11 cardstock; one of my favorites is black on one side and white on the other. It's great for cards! One year for Christmas cards I bought a two-sided cardstock that was cream and hunter green. Simply awesome!
