I use fingernail polish remover! Works like a charm and I usually have it around the house. I usually rinse and dry the scissors afterwards just to remove the leftover polish remover. Blessings -- Becky

I use good 'ole Stampin' Mist to clean the 'gunk' off my scissors!

I use UN-DU (yellow/red label) to get ANYthing sticky or gooey off of ANYTHING! Stickers off paper, stickers of windows, I took factory pinstripe stickers off my brothers brand new truck- NO damage, NO residue, Un-DU evaporates and wont leave anything on the next thing you cut.

I was in the kitchen, mounting some bare rubber on cling foam, and my scissors were getting all gunked up. I was too lazy to go to my stamping closet in my bedroom to get the alcohol I usually use, so I resorted to a little olive oil on a paper towel. It worked better than anything I've used before! Guess I'll be keeping another odd thing in my stamping supplies! LOL!

I use Goof Off works like a charm! No oily residue either, similar to window cleaner. I use it on so much in my studio, my scissors, ink on anything it shouldn't be, my hands even to dust my work area after I sand something... Love the stuff!! Welcome back BEATE!!

I've been using Goof Off recently too - good stuff. May I ask though, how is it similar to window cleaner? Do you use window cleaner to clean your scissors or use Goof Off on your windows? Sorry, confused here. If I'm hijacking, please forgive.

And I know you don't remember me from Adam but we met at a couple years ago at teh Memphis Regionals,, I'm think everyone had already when in and sat down for one of the general sessionsand we were dtill right out the door looking at display samples and you were with another girl. But I was thrilled to have met you. And I had introduced myself and was one of Michelle Laycock's downline at the time. Later you came over to speak to Michelle and she was trying to introduce us to each other and we laughed saying we had already met!

Just meant the consistency is similar to window cleaner. Unlike Goo gone that is oilier...

I use orange essential oil, it works like a charm too. Orange essential oil removes anything sticky.

I recycle my dryer sheets, I have been doing it for a few years. Not messy at all!

I am paying attention to this thread for two reasons: 1. I use Goo Gone and can't stand the smell and 2. BEATE!! I love you and have missed you very much!!

I use fingernail polish remover too! Works great- I usually lubricate just a little after they dry just to keep them opening and closing smoothly. I can't recall the name of the oil- it's something my hubby uses on his tools in his shop.

I wait till some OCD stamper comes to visit and uses my scissors. The goo annoys them and they run off to find some way to clean them

I use the glue eraser that SU sells (sold) made by Xyron. Works like a charm and there's no smell involved

Since I have allergies, and am very sensitive to products like Goo Gone, I want a safer and more environmentally friendly product. My favorite is Icky Sticky Stuff Remover by Orange-Sol.

I think it's great stuff and it's even safe to use on skin. Orange-Sol is the maker of D-Solv-It, a great product for use around the home (and it was even used on the workers at the Alaskan oil spill).
Although I haven't tried it yet, I have also read of using Icky Sticky Stuff Remover as a safer alternative to Gamsol with Prismacolor pencils.

Well, so far my suggestion is the most "out there"...but it works! I remember reading here on SCS a few years ago to run your blades through the Versamark pad! So, I do that a few times, and the gunk magically disappears. I wipe it down with a rag and they're clean as a whistle. Does anyone else remember reading this tip years ago? Does anyone else do this? Am I the only one?

I use rubbing alcohol. No residue to remove after, doesn't harm the metal due to moisture. Works great.
