Default "Army" birthday party

My six-year-old son wants to have an "army" themed bday party. I'm not too sure how to do invitations for this.

On another note, I'm taking the group of kids to see the new Shrek movie coming out in May, so maybe I should focus on Shrek and make invites focusing on that. Oh, boy! How do I make those? I don't have a big, huge green guy stamp!

Any creative ideas out there?

If you like doing scenry and can find a sticker of the big green guy, that will work. I've used stickers for main characters lots of times.

For the military you could do something like this except with a "You're Invited" greeting:

And when you get to doing thank you's you could do "Many Tanks" and use a tank stamp like this:

I've seen samples done where the bag toppers say MRE's etc. I think maybe the whole theme was in a PaperCrafts magazine?

HTH some with that theme.

Don't forget about clip art for those "unique" images, with some cool background paper you will be fine!

I had one for my son's b-day too...the cake was great, I took a regular sheet cake and decorated it w/ tanks, army guys etc. that I found in the "cheap little toy" section of Walmart. It was so neat, we set it up like a war-had a few tanks, army guys low-crawling up the side of the cake in an ambush...FUN!!!

My son also had an Army Party. he still talks about it. We encouraged te guests to wear green. We got some great stuff from www.birthdayexpress.com ...army hats, dog tags. We set up an obstacle course in the back yard for the game. They had to run, jump over things, go down the slide etc. The course ended where they would pick up a water balloon and throw it at the side of the garage!

Ctmh has a really nice acrylic Army stamp set. Also there is a lot of nice camo paper you can find at joanns or michaels. Maybe you can paint the boys faces in camo so they can have green faces like shrek? I one time did a party for my son with dump trucks. I did the dirt cake with the gummy worms. Also on the driveway made an obstacle course with sidewalk chalk and bought each of the boys one of the cheap plastic dump trucks at Walmart and they each got a turn riding their truck through the course. Maybe this could be done with tanks?

When one of my sons turned eight, we had a Marine theme birthday party. We did the invitations to sound like military orders and all the games and prizes featured GI Joe (who doesn't seem to be loyal to any branch of the service and comes in all uniforms!). One of the games was a relay race through a play ground subsituting for an obstacle course. The kids had a blast. My neighbor did a Marine theme, too, and did camo face painting on the kids. There are many military people on this site so you will probably have lots of ideas.
