aquapainter question

I've always used blender pens, but I'm considering purchasing aquapainters now. By the time my blender pens are too dry to use, the tips are not as nice as they used to be. Do you find this happens with the aquapainters as well?

The aqua painter actually has brush bristles and water feeds into the brush from a barrel that you fill. I'd think it will last a long, long time unless you tend to "scrub" with it.

BTW, I LOVE my aquapainters. Coolest think since sliced bread.

I have had my aquapainter for months, use them ALL the time, and they still look great! My demo helped at convention last year, with one of the make-and-take (?) sessions. She said they estimated that several thousand people used the aquapainters, and they still looked and worked good as new. I never use my blender pens anymore. Worth their weight in gold, IMO.

Blender pens and aquapainters are two different horses. Blender pens contain blending solution, which is a mixture of water, glycerine and a bit of alcohol. The gylcerine is what gives in the blending capability. Aquapainters are simply watercolor brushes with water in the barrel.

If blending pens are used gently, they should last a looooong time.

I have had my blender pens for years and they still work well. I store them horzionitally. I think that makes the difference. Aquapainters are just that brushes that allow you to paint. You put whatever solution you want in the resevoir. I personally like both tools because they have different uses. So I think you NEED both! I love the chalk with the blender pens and the aquapainters with my watercolor pencils.

Another question:
When you use your aquapainter for watercolor pencils do you just use water in them or the blender pen type solution?

I just use water in my aquapainter when I am blending the watercolor pencils. Works great!

You can actually refill the blender pens. I've done it and it wasn't difficult. I believe I've also seen felt replacement tips sold at Michaels. I'm pretty frugal. I like to save wherever I can so that I have more $$$ to spend on new stamps!
As far as the Aquabrush goes, I don't think it's a replacement for the blender pen....they each have their uses. I bought three of the Aquabrushes at Michaels. I filled one with water, one with Future, and the last with bleach.

I tried refilling SU blender pens with Dove solution and didn't work very well. They leak after you take the tip in and out. Also, the blender replacement tips are specifically for Dove and won't fit the SU pen barrels. If it were me, I would have both! Actually I do..lol. The blender pen tips only get ooky if they are abused.

I love my aquapainters and wouldn't trade them for anything, but there are some things that the blender pen still works better on!
