Default Anyone separate images from sentiments?

I have the Nice & Easy Notes set, but I'd like to be able to easily stamp the image without the sentiment. As the sentiment is curvy it is hard to just skip inking it. So I'm thinking of somehow cutting the stamp and remounting the sentiment on the side of the block.

So what is the best way to do this? My current plan is:

- Microwave the stamp to remove the rubber
- Cut the rubber (worried that it might be too sticky to cut easily)
- Clean the block to remove excess glue (worried that the stamp might loose stickyness if I take too long doing this)
- Restick the two pieces of rubber to the block

Comments/suggestions?

I prefer to leave mine together and just cover the words with masking tape when I want to omit them.

Sounds like a good plan. What about using a hobby knife (exacto knife type) to cut the rubber apart WHILE it is still on the wood? Then microwave and remove? I find that a hobby knife is good to get between small spaces. Just press DOWN with it and don't drag it.

I do this a LOT, In fact I bought extra wood blocks to mount the sentiments from Best of Cluck on I also got larger cases to put them all in. I think it makes them MUCH more versitile and easy to use!

In my experience, the sticky stays on the wood and not the rubber. so you might have to use a different kind of sticky to stick the sentiment back on to the wood.

I do it all the time. I can usually cut them apart. Sometimes if you pull the rubber tight from each edge you can pull the words a bit further apart to allow your scissors in there.

All of mine are seperated! I even will split several words into singles if I think I can get more use from them! Look at all the words you can get from the Word By Word BG stampfor only $16.95!

I got some $1 stamps from Michaels the other day and I used a craft knife to cut the words from the image and then microwaved it to peel the words off. It seemed to work pretty well....that way I just stuck the word on the other side of the block and then had plenty of time to clean the extra 'goo' off of the blocks afterwards.

I do this all the time also. If I can, I even seperate images from images....example, if there is a butterfly or a bee in the image, and it is possible to seperate it from the image without it looking like it is "missing" something when stamped, I will cut it out, and then I have another stamp!

I do it all the time! Sometimes I even cut the sentiments into pieces I think I'll use more. I mounted them on the ends or on the other side of the stamp block.

I do this all the time!!! Crystal Effects works well to re-glue if you don't have enough of the original stickiness left. Also, a while back someone said that they use jenga game knockoffs from the dollar store as extra wood blocks. I bought a set to remount word by word but some of the words won't quite fit. But they work great for smaller words & images!

I do it all the time. Simply because I may want to use the sentiment with another stamp set!

Almost always!! Especially if I like the image, but not the words (ie. if they're religious or talk about baby bottles or they just don't seem to match the image 100%) But I often like to use them separately, so even if it takes some surgery with a craft knife, I usually separate them.

Default Thanks Everyone

So far I have cut up the Happy Birthday Watering Can and the Get Well Pill Bottle (as I want to have a Get Well Watering Can option too).

I found that using an exacto knife first and then micro-waving worked best as some of the images were so close to the sentiment.

The exacto knife also helped get off the excess glue which I reused to stick the new image.

Now I can have more fun with my stamps (although next time I'm going to cut them BEFORE mounting them!).

I find masking easier than mounting separtely. I catalogue all my stamps by set but at the back have a page of sentiments (I'm sure it will grow) and have what set it belongs to.

I do this too. I cut the heart from the frogs head on Unfrogettable. I cut the flowers off the stems from Easy Elegance.

Oooh Jenga is the perfect size for some of those. I have a set I got from a craft show that is unmounted that I wanted to mount since it is all words and this would be perfect --

Thanks to ematson to the idea of covering part of stamp with masking tape. We were told to cut them apart and stick them to the side of the wooden block. Never did work very well,so a BIG Thank You!!!

I almost alway sseperate words if I can-love the value added and how easy it is to use that way. If already stuck on I use an exacto as mentioned above and if there i ssticky left I have used baby powder to "unstick" the residue and Crystal Effects if needed to stick the image again.

I always mount the whole stamp and either cover part of it with masking tape as cindy mentions, or I'll use the water color crayons to color on only the parts of the stamp that I want to use.
