Default ribbon organizer

I have seen neat "home made" ribbon organizers and ,of course, now that I'm interested in making one I can't find any. I have my ribbons on a long dowel attached to the wall, but they keep unrolling and falling into my workspace. I'm interested in how to make some that hold less rolls and are more controllable. Any ideas,or places to look?

Go to the twopeasinabucket website and do a search for ribbon. You'll see lots of neat ways to organize your ribbon. This one is my favorite (I hope I'll be able to copy and paste it). I love how the ribbon hardly takes up any room and how it is protected from dust.

What a concept!! My first thought when I looked at the photos was, "Clothespins don't hold very many yards of ribbon." But then I realized that I hardly ever buy huge amounts of one color. This would definitely keep the ribbon from unrolling all over the place.

this isn't particulary inventive, but I keep my rolls of ribbon in a shoe box. each roll is taped shut and the rolls are placed on their side so I can see the ribbons. It is cheap and effective!

I bought a med. size Sterlite basket from Wal-Mart that has holes in the sides. I turned it with the bottom against the wall, screwed it in all four corners to the wall and ran dowels through the holes. The ribbon is on the dowels and I use straight pins to keep them from unrolling. The ends of the dowels are held secure by binder clips. Works great! Someone on this site suggested it (can't remember who, though). So far I have 15 spools of SU grosgrain on one of the dowels and there's room for probably 5 or 6 more. My organdy ribbon is under that and then there's room for another dowel under that one. Plenty of room.

HTH,

Karen

I am currently redoing my rubberstamp room. Moving to a smaller space so my son can have an exercise area (keeps him out of trouble!). Anyway, I am going to put my in gutters that are hung on the wall. There is a pic somewhere in the gallery of someones. Basically you take a section of gutter, cap off the ends and mount the gutter to the wall. Put the ribbons in with the ends hanging over the side. I don't like the idea of having them on sticks cuz then when you use one up you have to take the whole thing apart.

I went to Michael's/Hobby Lobby type store and bought a wooden cylindrical box. I drilled some holes in it and put a dowel rod through the top. I then pulled my ribbons through the holes on the sides. I gave my only one away to a friend, so I don't currently have a picture. When I get my next one made, I will let you know.

Hi, I made homemade ribbon storage out of shoe boxes and a pencil box. Please take a look at my gallery for pics and explanations on how a made them.
