Default Double Sided Tape

I use mostly DS tape (2 different widths) for all my cards, sometimes glue stick, and mono adhesive for anything that touches a photo.

I love the tape, I get it on a 3 inch core and load it into a desktop dispenser. It is a bit heavy to lug around to crops, but it lasts a long time. I can go through mono soooo quickly.

I love the Duck brand too. I also have contacted the wholesaler & will be purchasing a case myself. Love it!!!!

Thanks for this thread! It's been driving me crazy that the mono/snail adhesives just don't seem to be as good as they use to, especially if you adhered the word window punch piece to cardstock and fold it in half. It eventually pops up. How embarassing when you give someone a card and it starts coming apart! Even sticky tape doesn't keep that word window punch piece held down. I'm going to check out some of the other options mentioned in this thread.

. . . falling apart with mono adhesive? . . .
Yep . . . same thing has happened to me. I recently made my MIL in NH an 80th b-day card; and when we went back home to attend her party, I was horrified to find that the card I sent her was in three pieces! It happened again quite recently with a card I had made about a month earlier. It's very frustrating and embarrassing.

I've tried Craft Bond Adhesive Spray but found that it made the card stock too stiff and inflexible which also resulted in layers coming apart. I've tried SU!'s glue sticks but had the same problem with layers coming unstuck--in fact, I ended up throwing two barely used glue sticks away because they just dried/hardened up!

I am now using DS tape. SU!'s Sticky Strip works well, but I found another brand that looks/works exactly the same and is much cheaper. It's called Terrifically Tacky Tape by Art Accentz. I just use small pieces in the corners and that seems to be enough. One thing, though . . . once you stick it, it's stuck!!

For sticking embellishments, I agree that glue dots work well.

Hope that helps.

I have this stuff too, don't use it as much as my Scotch brand stuff but, your right it does stick really good. And it comes in different widths. It is what my LSS recommended to me.

Me too! I went through my 'inspiration' box the other day and the cards I made at the last SU! workshop were falling apart. WAAHH!

I grabbed my Art Institute Designer Dries Clear and 'fixed' them. I don't normally use the Mono but was considering an order for some but am now glad I didn't...just in case. I will stick with my Designer Dries clear. Quick, easy and no mess

I have the same problem. No matter how hard I press or how much I think positive, it always falls off. I use the Herma brand scrapbooking glue in both removable and permanent and have never had a problem with either one. The removable even holds better than the Mono adhesive.

I use 465 tape by 3M. It's a clear double-sided tape that holds very well. You can take things apart but not if it's been stuck for a while. If you put it where you don't want it, it rubs off like rubber cement. I've been really pleased with this stuff. It also doesn't show much through vellum over light paper.

I have the SU glue stick and find that doesn't stick well at all. I have to use my brayer to nail it down and I'm worried about it coming apart eventually. I do like the rectangular shape of the glue stick though. I still prefer my 465 tape! I can't find it in Ottawa, but you can get it in Edmonton at Western Educational Activities, the mother of all stamping stores. Not sure where else it's available. Western does mail order of sorts. They don't have their stock on-line, but if you know what you want, they'll send it to you.

Mono was so much better before they changed the design--although I hated how my dispenser would get gummed up, I think the adhesive stuck much better. Now I have to use twice as much for the same result. Any ideas of where to get the ATG dispenser at a reasonable price?

mono sucks. I switched to mono multi and I LOVE it and it sticks like cement. It took some getting used to the liquid aspect, but it's awesome stufff!

I only use double sticky tape and have used it for over 10 years. I love that my cards never fall apart.

I switched to mono Multi and I just love it! My sis and daughter are hooked on it also. It's good stuff. It is inexpensive and a little bit goes a looong way! I got mine from ScrapbookPal.com for $1.99 with free shipping over $25.

BTW, Gina, your lil' punkin stamp is way adorable!! So cute!

And what an amazing cartwheel!!

i've been watching for and reading all the threads about adhesives and i haven't heard of anyone else using the one i do. it is the 'tape n roller' (permanent) put out by kokuyo. i buy it at a.c.moore. the refills are 4.99 before the 40% coupon. it's a little tricky to use until you get used to it, but when it says permanent it means permanent. heaven help you if you get it on wrong, lol, but i love the fact that i can count on it holding.
i'm keeping my eyes open for the mono multi because i'd like to try it, but until then i'm sticking (ha, ha) with the kokuyo.

Don't laugh at my stupidity, but I made a wonderful card one night and woke up the next a.m. and it fell apart. Thought, well, I tried to reposition it or something so I re-taped it. Came in from work and it had fallen apart again!! I nearly cried but went back to tape it one more time. When I picked it up, I realized that I had refilled with non-permanent!

I use the mono and have never had a problem. I wanted to try the duck brand from Walmart but they stopped carrying it before I could try it. Bad me!!

I use Scotch Double sided tape as well and it works well....

In my scrapbooks I only use Creative Memories Tape runner or other products. They are there for life!

I had the same problem. Additionally, I hate any liquid glue. The best stuff, IMO, is Red Duck. I have never had anything fall apart and have used it for years. It is also more inexpensive than any other roller I have ever seen.

I have had them fall apart with Tombow...just like the snail. I use good 'ol Scotch double stick tape. I try something and come back to that every time.

I also have had the same problem with projects falling apart. It has been happening for quite some time now. I had to use the extra tacky red lined double stick tape in some instances. I have some cards I made up in advance, to have on hand, and when I get them out to use them I have had to re glue everything. I found some glue called "zip dry paper glue" by Beacon. It is a fast drying glue for paper arts that is acid and lignin free won't wrinkle paper and dries clear. It will also bond beads, glitter wire and metal findings to paper. So far I have had good luck with it. Only problem is I bought it at a craft fair and don't know where to purchase it. There is a website for Beacon www.beaconcreates.com
