Where can I hold a class/workshop?

So here's the story. My house is under renovation and does not lend itself to a very good environment for stamping classes/workshops. I looked into booking a room at the local library but it will cost $60 and they said it could only be used for nonprofit use. Even worse than the library, there's only one hotel that has a meeting room in the area and it is $75 for 4 hours. I even thought of a covered shelter house but that is a no go too. Any recommendations out there for a very desperate demonstrator?

Help!?!?!

I know a gal that has her workshops at the local Pizza King. I've not been to one, but the gals who go always have a lot of fun. I would think anywhere you could have a children's party would do--maybe not ChuckECheese, but other family restaurants often have a "back room". What about a local church?

I agree with Jenny...check with a church, local resturant...maybe somewhere that has a buffet. Do you have a local community center? We have one and rented a room for my babyshower, my sons birthday one yr., and other gatherings.

Where do you live in SE Michigan?
Do you have a good friend who would let you use her place?

I would ask the people in your stamping group if they have room to hold it and then offer some sort of payment, a stamp set or something, help her clean that day and what ever else needs to be done so it's not work for her.

I live near Adrian, MI. A friend of mine did offer her home up to me but then if I were to take her up on it I feel like I'll be imposing and I have to work with her schedule etc.

Thanks for the great suggestions so far.

Does your demo live in your town? As a demo I've held many workshops for my hostesses at my house. If she won't do this have checked with the local fire station/hall or VFW Hall? They usually have meeting rooms or space available.

Just a couple of suggestions.

I have attended workshops at Pizza Hut, lots of fun since our fee included pizza and soda for lunch. The same demonstrator moved them due to size to the local firehouse. They had a room you could reserve. I understand not wanting to use someone else's house, that would be hard for me too. Good luck!

Thumbs up make and take

Why not have it at someone house and offer the person who's house you use.
A FREE stamp set, Just set your price for the stamp set.
Do you have a Garage? If so you could park your cars somewhere else for that day. and set up tables and chairs. and have a Ice chest full of bottle water or bottle soda, for your guest. Place fans for cool air, If it's Hot.

How about a screened porch? same as above.

Our house is in the same boat, But we do have a garage and I also have a basement.

Most churches are open for this.

Hope this helps

Since I have a small home and lots of SU buddies, I usually hold my workshops at a local pizzeria with a banquet room. The food is good, there's no charge for the room, it's a quiet/private place and everyone has a great time. We order a few pitchers of pop and 3-4 large pizzas.

I have also used local park department or library rooms available for rent; but those seem to be more work!!

Default Some of my ideas...

Here are some of my ideas:

~ Local Community Center
~ Church
~ Park District room rental (cheaper than a hotel or the library, I'll bet!)
~ Nursing home activity room (make an offer to submit "full" cards & envies for the residents to be able to send - you can even offer something like 50% off the cost of the w/s to those who bring 10 full cards/envies...)
~ Private school gymnasiums (Jackie Bolhuis has her annual Spring Seminar at a private school and I believe either uses the lunch room or gymnasium to have projects...)

Just some thoughts as I was sitting here.... ~ K

I've been to stamp camps at a library, restaurant with a back meeting room (room was offered as part of a buffet we paid for), a clubhouse, church basements.

I have been to ones in Church Halls/basement, YMCA, Community Center (on military installations), - they all worked out with little to no cost.

These are all fantastic suggestions. Thank you all for responding. I haven't tried the restaraunt thing yet. I was a little nervous about mixing food with scrapbooking. Now the bigger question do I try to slip one in before the new catalog or wait to see what new scrap packs they come up with.
