I was cruisin through office supplies tonight at my local WM and what did I discover hanging above the paper clips, a Carl Rotary Cutter, and replacement blades! I was floored. It was considerably less than I've seen at office supply stores. Only $28 something. If y'all already knew sorry to repeat it, I tend to go through life with my head in the clouds, when I come down I get surprises left and right!
I'll have to check that out! I have two rather old Fiskars cutters that are pretty worn out. Time for something new!

No, I don't think this is the one that cuts lots of paper at once. This may be one of their less expensive rotary models.
I'll check it out though and see if its like the nice one that I have. If it is a portable rotary model, I may buy it tho because I've given up on Fiskars.
Whatever it is, it's like the one I used to have. I know you can cut like ten sheets at one time. It doesn't say on my receipt, it just says professional trimmer. Either way, it has got to be better than my Fiskars one!
Did anyone see the paper cutter that was in the AC Moore ad? It said new and it is the kind that I think I want - you pull the handle down to cut the paper.
I did not get out to check it out yet. It was on sale so I can't use my coupon this week.
DC210 is the model that cuts 12 inch wide paper and has a backstop for the paper. The total unit size is at least 15 x 15 inch(I think maybe a bit bigger). The bar locks in place and you push the rotary cutting unit across the bar. It will cut 6 or 7 sheets of Confetti White, which is very thick. It will cut about 30 sheets of typing paper.
I've had it for two years and have yet to change the blade. I've flipped the mat over a few times, so I think I've gone thru a complete one (4 cutting areas). The blade cuts toward one edge of the mat. When you start getting bad cuts, lift out the mat, but don't turn it upside down. Rotate it 180 degrees and set it back in place. Next time, flip it upside down; the last time rotate 180 degrees again.
For convention last year, I made 300 cards that had the base cardstock and 4 layers. I think I cut the cardstock for all 300 cards in little more than 1/2 hour. For one or two cards, I use my Fiskars. But Carl serves me whenever I do a convention or workshop. He's my best bud!
Okay, this is one 12 x maybe 6 or 8. It's about twice as wide as the Fiskars. The rest of everything you described is the same. The balde diameter is about an inch maybe a smidge more. Like I said I had one like it that my children under the supervision of a babysitter somehow broke and they weren't even using it! I'll just be glad to have something I can cut more than 2 pieces at a time with!
I hate to bring up CTMH but they have great cutting systems. I love their new cutter. Has anyone else tried it you don't get that waver like you do sometimes with Fiskars.
Once you get the Carl Cutter you can purchse the many blades they have.
I have about 6 - 8 different blades. IE Colonial, Wavey, etc. These are wonderful. OH sooooo much better than any pair of fancy cut sizzors. You can cut a whole 12 inch cardstock with one push or pull of the rotary cutter and have no skips in your edge pattern. You can order the extra blades on line. The web address is on the cutting system itself.

PS. Yes, once the cuts start to get rough, change the mat not the blade. The blade will last a long time, the cutting mat is what wears down and it is very inexpensive.
I bought a Carl at Walmart last week (not the rotary one, the simple model, looks like a regular Fiskars cutter). I was up in Oklahoma to visit my inlaws and I forgot my paper cutter, so I went and bought this one.
IT WAS AWFUL! You had to be Hercules to cut the paper, it hurt my hand and after cutting for about 12 cards, I gave up and took the awful thing back. Plus, you can't lift the guard up, so little pieces of cardstock (anything 1/2 inch or smaller) kept getting caught in the track and I had to jimmy them out.
I have heard great things about the big cutter, but their smaller, everyday cutter leaves A LOT to be desired.

I just bought one of these at Walmart last night. It is the RT-200. It rang up $24.84, but the shelf was marked $17.44 so I got a great deal. I also bought a package with the perforating blade and the scoring blade in it for $8.88. I know that this is not the heavy duty one demos like, but I am going to try it because I hate the crooked cuts that I get with my Fiskars. It is a little bigger than the Fiskars, but I figure if it works better it will be worth finding a way to transport it when I go to crops.

What if one doesn't already have the cutting system ... can you share the web address? I've heard a lot about this cutting system but haven't seen it. Is it pricey? How is it better than the Fiskars rotary cutter (or any other cutting systems).
Sell me on it ... I *need* a reason to buy a new cutter! LOL
