stop buying, start using.
learn how to use MDS
learn how to use my cricut.
make things for craft shows throughout the year so the craft show experience is less stress and more fun.

My goals for this year:
Complete my on-line copics class.
Attend a brayering class taught by Zindorf.
Send birthday cards to my sister and brother in laws. (I met my goal of sending cards to all my brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews this year.)
Finish the scrapbooks I started before I became a stamper. I'd like to get my DD's books completed before she leaves for college in 3 1/2 years!
Maybe look into submitting to get published this year.
Thanks and Happy New Year to all.

My 2011 Scrappin Resolutions are:

1. Locate a venue to sell my creations, so I can continue to make them!

2. Not buy any more "Stuff" until I use up what I have, or find a venue to sell my creations. (our local scrapbook store closed where I had a consignment spot to sell my stuff)

I think I am saying the same thing so many others are: start using some of the stuff I have! I have a ton of fab DP that I don't use because I don't want to use it up. Seriously, like the talented designers out there won't come up with a million other patterns that I will need to own. So, my resolutions are:
1. Use what I own
2. Send out the cards I make
3. Start having fun again
4. Take my spending a month at a time. I know I won't be able to quit spending completely, or even mostly, but I do need to watch where the money is going.

Someone above mentioned sending out more cards to friends and families. That is definitely one of my goals! I made 6 birthday cards a half hour ago.

Since I've been pretty good at using what I have, buying only what I really like, and sending out birthday & anniversary cards on time, I have only one goal that I fell short on last year that I'd like to improve upon this year. I'm going to try harder this year to donate more cards to charitable/non-profit organizations. I had the best intentions last year, but I just didn't get out very many; and I'd like to do better this year.

Last year I decided to make birthday cards for all the family--which was quite a few--and plan to do that one again. And a few others....

1. Make birthday cards for all the family
2. Make anniversary cards for all the family
3. Make 5 Christmas cards a month
4. Try a new technique each month
5. Do weekly card challenge--can use for birthday/anniversary cards
6. Get scrapbooks up to date
7. And so much more......;)

YES ...YES....YES!!!

I've been giving this a lot of thought as well. There are so many places that would welcome our handmade cards. I think, IMHO, that I need to do something ( in my own small way) that would benefit others with this hobby I love so much. It's a "win-win" situation!

Such a fun thread! I have a few....
Take the time to upload cards to my gallery here, spend more time on my blog.
Make at least two cards a week.
Set up my craft area better so I'm not constantly moving all around to find stuff and get at it.
Good luck everyone and Happy New Year!

Most definitely need to do that. I have made lots of cards that I never get around to putting in my gallery.

1. Purchase a whole room full of built-in cabinets for stamping and office stuff and nag my DH to install them.
2. Ignore my family more often to stamp.
3. Hold more SU! sales events so I can afford all this.

I'm planning to try a new technique at least twice per month.

Also, for the year 2010 my goal was to use every stamp set I own (which I did!) and one thing I'd like to do this year is try to use stamps that I've never used before. I tend to grab the same ones over and over and I'm going to try to use ones I'm not so quick to use.

First, I'm going to try to keep to a spending budget! I have enough cardstock and DP to last a lifetime, so using what I have is #1. Next, I want to add more "bling" to my cards, not just a ribbon, but shiny, sparkly stuff. Or to have a shabby chic look, something I'm not too great at, so it's a challenge and a resolution!

We'll see how long #1 lasts. I've already run out of Marina Mist cardstock.

I'm also going to use up my retired su cardstock. I have never liked sage shadow and I had 3 pieces to use up. I went in the gallery and type in sage shadow in the search and found a color combo I could live with and made 6 missing you cards for my hubby's unit. I was so happy when those were put together. My next color I have to use is cameo coral. I think if I take it a color at a time I can do it. I haven't bought any new su colors yet and I'm just itching to but I wanted to use up what I have first.

I also am not buy anything unless I need it and I'm really examining if I really need it.

My resolutions are:
1) to purchase tools and not so many consumables (paper, ribbon etc)
2) to make 365 cards this year. Most I will donate.
3) to make at least one submission to a magazine

To date I have made 8 cards so I'm ahead of the game

I have several stamping goals for 2011...some have been stated here...

Participate in at least 2 SCS challenges each week, and at least one blog challenge weekly.

Post to my blog at least 2x/week

Develop a new excel doc with my stamp list

Update my excel address list so when I send 100+ Christmas cards out, I don't have to hand write every envelope!

Make 12 Christmas cards each month

Mount card fronts from demo swaps onto bases, to donate to thenon-profit where I work

Make and MAIL birthday cards (goodness, any cards!)

Surf these discussion threads less so I can actually accomplish all of the above ;)

Does someone have a link to indexing stamps on a Rolodex file? Sounds interesting and might like to try. Thanks!

My one goal is to do the insides of cards before I move onto the next card!! Last year, I did all my Christmas cards except for the insides, then it was a mad-panic to get the insides done. You wouldn't believe how many times I smudged the sentiment or stamped it upside down or crooked - or dropped the ink pad on it . Uggh! Made me one grumpy gal!! And I do the same thing for my cards for other occasions - I finish the card in time for the event, but then don't do the inside until I am literally putting the card in the envelope to mail that day! Not this year - and so far, 6 days in, I'm sticking to my resolution with the 7 cards that I have done.

The other resolution is that I would like to submit some cards to a magazine and see if I could get published. It would be so nice to be able to show something happy and cheerful and positive to my Mum who is now 80, had a stroke and breast cancer & survived but is frail and frustrated that she can't do what she used to do a year ago.

Last year's resolution was to start a Blog and enter card competitions and to learn more + practice the Gamsol Magic aka Magic Coloured Pencil technique - and I did! Yay!

I like this one from JoBear2's post! I had the same experience this Christmas. So I'm going to adopt that resolution.

Also:

Tidy up the supplies from one card-making session before starting a new session!

Use up my cardstock stash before buying anymore.

Get rid of the dp that I know I'll never use even though I like it.

I know it seems odd to scrapbook a wedding that took place over 2 decades ago, but I know that I have probably forgotten details already and I don't want to loose any thing else. I have beautiful pictures but without the story, they mean very little.

So there you have it, what I hope to accomplish in 2011. Now we will see how it goes.

Pamela
Since we just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary just before Christmas (21st of December), I've been thinking the very same thing. We have a ton of picutres and they are in what is strictly a photo album which is bulging and is falling apart. That's a goal I should set, too. Perhaps you've inspired me to do so. Thanks.

ok Gayla, I have never shown anyone my room (in picture format) I think It looks really junky in photos (not that it couldn't stand a little cleaning), but it is not so cluttered in real life:
Any stamping related New Years resolutions??-craft-room-003.jpg
the punches hanging over the door. the closet with a dresser (holds fabric, envelopes, tissue paper, and some other supplies) all my dp, cards and photo albums.
then the little green and white boxes hold all my alphabets mostly chipboard and other chipboard shapes.

then my ikea shelves with all my stamp sets, I have a lot to do to unmount these. on top of the shelves are boxes of photos to be scrapped.
my work table (note the shelves that did get hung)- also the ink holders on the wall.
then my desk (note the wall with no shelves. Cant decide if I want to hang the same shelves over the desk as the work table or if I want to hang art work.) with a smaller ikea shelf next to it that holds ribbon reinkers, markers inks, bind it all paint etc. The iris cart holds adhesive, catty, stamp blocks, colored pencils, crayons pastels.

All my card stock is in the lateral file cabinets under the windows (you can see them peeking into the picture with the stamps and the work table. I have one with current SU colors and one with retired.

Can't believe all the help you gals are. Even though I have been a Splitcoaststampers member for a few years, I'm still finding my way around. Never tried the "Search" from the gallery before and didn't even realize I could put a card stock color in and have card samples come up in the color! You can't imagine how much you have helped me. I too want to use what I have - instead of storing it and buying new. Of course I could give it away but the point is to spend less! Thanks for all the help everyone!

My resolutions:

1.) USE what I have!
2.) Tidy up after each stamp session.
3.) Just because I have a coupon, doesn't mean I need to spend $$!
4.) Work on Christmas cards throughout the year. Be DONE with them by November.
5.) Spend an hour a week just sorting through drawers, purging what I don't need/want.
6.) Mail my swap cards on time!
7.) Build up my card stash again - be prepared for every occasion when folks come to my office to look for cards to purchase.
8.) Donate more cards to good causes.

Whew! I'm exhausted just thinking about all these! But they're completely do-able, if I just keep my goals in mind.
