Default TAC ???? RE: Acrylic Blocks

OK, I ordered my first TAC Stamps and got a Block to go with it. It was just 1/2 inch PLexiglass. It wasn't like the blocks that you can get at Close to My Heart. Is this how they come? I am just wondering if that is something that is popular. It's cheap...my dad can get me some 2x2 blocks fore 50 cents a piece.

Just wondering what you think.

Default Blocks

Most block on the market are 1/2 TAC's included. We have the same supplier as sundayint.com Some people don't like these blocks as they get their finger in the ink. TAC now carries whats called a block buddy. It's a black plastic hand with a suction cup to put on the block. This helps with the smaller blocks and for those like myself who have fingernails. It's also very helpfel for ladies with arthritis..;)
If you'd like to see one check out my website it's in my sig line.:p

I too love the wood mounted. I am trying to decide wether to ezmount my bella's, or buy the blocks and wood mount them. But as far as acrylic block, I prefer the clost to my heart and I also found one that is wavy around the edges, daisy hill I think???? I can't seem to like the straigt edge, has to be curved for me!

TAC actually does carry the smooth edged ones in a set...they are called Krystal Cubes and the set includes (one of each) 3/4", 1", 1 1/4" and 1 1/2". They are more $$ though, and since they are cubes, they can get pretty big to hold (I'd think...I havent used them, honestly).

I have had plexiglass cut at a glass shop and those were super rough (and the sides were uneven because the guy had such a time cutting through it!) so, at $1.50 for a 2x2 block, I'm pretty happy. I have been using them for 4 years now -- they kinda grow on you! I think for most people it's just a matter of getting used to them...and whether you want to pay a little less and then have more blocks at the ready. But, luckily, there is a block for everyone out there!

I agree it's what you are used to. I guess I just wanted to know what everyone thought about the plexiglass. I know that it is rough. But since I'll be getting from my dad I think that's what I am gonna do for my Bellas, rather than buy wood. Whatever is cheaper and I can buy more other stuff!! LOL... thanks for the input

As long as you have the proper blades to cut the plexi yourself, go for it! I really like the 3/4" blocks, which I've picked at various places over the past year or so. You can get really nice ones from smARTworks (the ones that were originally sold by Prairie Stamper) - check them out here.

Personally I don't like the flat plexiglass, I have trouble holding on and always get alot of ink on the block and my fingers. I think if you're going to use alot of unmounted or clear stamps it's worth the investment to get the nice thick blocks with the curved edges.
just my 2cents worth

Something you might like to do is purchase some Foam that is sticky on both sides and them mount them to a wood block.

There are a few places that sell that kind of foam.
As some of your prefer wood mounted to Unmounted stamps.
Do a Google Search for Foam Mounting Cushion
I like our Acrylic Blocks, I haven't had any problems with my fingers getting inky by using them.

But then everyone has there own preference on what they like to use for stamping.
