Default Another Xyron Question

I was looking throughold threads about the Xyron and a lot of my questions got answered except this one:

When you run something through a Xyron, is the back sticky when it comes out or does it have a covering to peel off?

TIA!

You have to peel the item off of the backing after it comes out of the Xyron. If you're using the smallest Xyron, then you have to peel the overlay off also. HTH!

you peel the overlay off the really big one too (the 910?). i only have that and the little X-shaped ones, so don't know about in between. but i found out the hard way that the overlay is really sticky. i used it on 7x7 pages i put in a CM book and that overlay stuck to all sorts of things before i caught on.

It depends upon the model. All Xyron's put "sticker paper" underneath the item you roll through, and once through, the item is sticky on the back, and you have to peel it off the sticker paper. However, there are a few models that have a clear overlay (kinda like Saran Wrap) that rests on top of the item you are making sticky that you also have to peel off. To me, this clear overlay is an ADVANTAGE.

I used to have the 500 (5" wide), which does not use this clear overlay. Every time I sent something through, the glue would peek out from the sides of the item I wanted to make sticky and get all over everything. With the clear overlay, you just rub the item before you take the overlay off, and it takes off all the excess glue with it. I complained to Xyron about this, and they replaced my 500 with a 510 (same size machine, but with the overlay) for FREE!

Just wanted to let you know. As far as I know, the 500 is the only model that does NOT use the clear overlay. (I have the X/150, the 510 and the 900, and have seen the 250).

HTH,
