Another Newbie Question

Forgive me for posting another newbie type question but I've seen in several threads that one member is "bumping" anothers thread.

What is bumping?
Why is it done?

Thank you.

When you see a post that says "bump" or "I'm going to bump this for..." they are submitting a post to get the thread back to the top of the New Posts & Forums. Its a way to help more people see the thread and respond to it. People generally look at the newest posts first. HTH (hope this helps)

Whenever a thread is replied to, it is moved back to the top of page 1 in the forum. So sometimes people who want to put a thread back up top to be noticed will just type "bump" as in "bump this back to the top."
