Default Alternative to Word Search Background

When I saw the word search background in the new catty I thought HOW COOL! but if you want to make your own background a little more versatile with your own choice of words you COULD use the word-search builder here http://puzzlemaker.school.discovery....SetupForm.html and print it out on your cardstock and go from there.

Cool, eh?

This is AWESOME! If you do it as a text and copy it into excel, you can line everything up perfectly AND change the font.

Wow, thanks for that idea! I was looking at that stamp trying to find phrases that I would use; it's pretty cool!

Thanks! The kids used to use that at school all the time, but I'd forgotten about that site. I'll definitely try it out.

I had to go look at the online catalog to figure out what the BG stamp looks like. It's really neat, but I can see a lot of advantages to using the puzzlemaker, like putting in my grandson's full name and "nineteen ninety seven."

Has anyone actually pasted their word search into Excel? I just tried to do that, and it pastes all of each line into the first cell of that row no matter if I Paste Special as HTML, Unicode, or Text.

Ooh I managed to figure it out by clicking on the floating menu that automatically comes up once you paste into Excel. It interprets text as Delimited by default, but once I switched it to Fixed-Width everything worked out!

My only issue (born of my fussiness I'm sure!) with the word search creator is that it wants to put the key words backwards and diagonally.

Just got my IB & C yesterday and have only been through it once. I liked that BG but also thought about the Puzzle maker site. I used it the 6 years my daughters were in grade school, making puzzles for the newsletters. I hadn't had time to check it out again, but now will definately do it. I can't wait to see SCS'rs cards using word search - either BG stamp or other!!
