I just need to vent. Seems like Papertreyink is always out of either the die or the matching stamp set. I don't understand why they don't know how to plan their stock so that people can order the stamp and die on the same order. And it seems to take quite a long time for them to restock, unlike Simon Says Stamp, which is pretty quick with restocking items.
I'm not sure what dies you're looking for (i.e., if they are newer or older), but there was a thread recently where someone was able to find out that PTI had suffered a server crash that wiped out a lot of their die files...
This is the thread where it's discussed and the info about the crash is in post 16 and 18.
Thanks for the information, but I was wanting to order the die and matching stamp set at the same time. And it seems like either the die is out of stock when they have the stamp set, or the stamp set is out of stock when they have the die available.
Yeah, there are still a few that are out of stock. One I am waiting on has not come back either. If I don't see it soon, I might put out an ISO in their forum. I hope they were able to recover all of their damaged files :(

Actually, I have had difficulty with all the companies (including SSS) for some that I have been wanting. I think it can be difficult for companies to know what we will order..... I'm also noticing that dies are getting more "flimsy" from some companies so I'm wondering if die production is getting hard to come by and they are having to change companies.
I heard/read somewhere a couple of years ago that companies don't order the same amount of stamps and matching dies because a lot of people don't want dies; I'm guessing that's why we see dies filling up clearance sections. It must be hard to judge which dies would interest people the most.
I agree, it is impossible to know what people are going to want. Even WalMart runs out of things I want - on a regular basis! HA! Luckily most of the crafty sites have Buy/Sell/ISO forums so I have always been able to find what I was looking for if the wait was too long. I'm sure all companies would love to have a full stock of everything so that they could be the ones making the sale - that's why its hard to fault them when things run out.

I've been frustrated with this die problem at PTI, too. For months, they told no one about the problem with corrupted files, and then only reluctantly after everyone complained about the long wait times.
And yet, they continue to crank out new stuff every month. I would respect them more if they took a month off of new releases to clean up house, put up the long-promised new website, and get things in order again.
For example, many dies that are out of stock still appear on the store, but PTI has no intention of ever bringing them back, as the stamps are retired. Take them off the store site, already!
I wanted to order Stitching Garden stamps and dies this month, but the stamp set sold out. The dies are still available. Now I'm wondering. Should I order the dies anyway? Will the stamp set get restocked quickly? Quicker than the dies? Not sure what to do.
