Heart Thank You

I was making a card the other day. I've only made a dozen or so, very new at this. My 8 year old daughter was watching me, she loves to craft too. She raids the recycle bin and makes all sorts of stuff. Any way I was doing the shading on the out side with the ink and cut up SU sponge, sorry don't know what you call it. My daughter was so amazed and asked how I knew how to do that. I told her there are amazing women on the internet that share what they know and I've learned from them. So thank you to all of you that share your knowledge and tallent b/c at least for a little while longer my daughter thinks I'm amazing.

I'll bet she will think you're amazing forever! You should get her to make a card, upload it here, and post a thread to let us know about it. Lots of people love to leave comments for budding artists. Mom? Amazing? Yeah, I think so!

You sound like an amazing mom! You must have taught her to watch and listen before she asks a question' Your response sounds like you spoke to her as a person. Too often adults/parents don't answer their children's valid questions and just tell them to go 'watch TV', etc.

Sounds like you have and something in common with your daughter that you can share in the future.

This is wonderful - one of my favorite thoughts of my Mom is how creative she is. I'm really glad she passed that on to me.

That's so sweet! I hope my daughter enjoys crafting too... She's got a while to go yet as she's still at the stage where she will pick up ANYTHING off the floor and eat it. I look forward to us coloring together!

Aww, sweet!

My 2yo grandson sees me stamping and asks "Are you stamping, Gramma?" "Yes, Emerson, I'm stamping." "Can I stamp too?...Please?" He's not too great with stamping technique but he has a lot of enthusiasm! And he loves giving his card to his Mom or Dad!

Let your daughter explore stamping too! And have her post her creations! I have a stamping buddy here on SCS whose 8 and 11 yo kids each have a gallery!

My son and daughter always wondered what other kids did that didn't have a mother that scrapbooked and stamped when it was time to do special projects for school. They always said they felt sorry for them. My daughter was in the craft room working on an AP history project last year and I overheard her talking to her friend who had come over to work on her project (she is now a senior in high school). Callie looked at her friend's poster and informed her that it needed some work. The friend insisted it looked OK. Callie then said,"Well, if you want it to look great then your pictures need to have layers behind them. I would recommend at least two. It will look more finished." I thought back to all the times I had told her that when working on projects with her and realized that even though she had complained about the time it took to do those extra steps she understood the need and had learned. Now that I think about it, I kind of feel sorry for all of those kids who don't have scrapping/stamping moms too.
