I was trying to make a slimline card, and several times, I measured, cut and scored my card. And each time, it was scored at the wrong measurement. And I kept thinking, what am I doing wrong? Then I got out my ruler, and the measurement on my scoreboard is off! GGGRRR! I do have the mini one, so I was able to use it, by turning the paper to score on each long side. So needless to say, my large scoreboard is going bye bye. I thought about getting another large one in a different brand, so I would have it for larger projects. Debating about it, as I don't know how much I'll use it, and they aren't cheap and take up room.
Then I went to use my Bearly Art glue, and the stinking glue applicator was clogged badly; even though, I cleaned and removed it just as the instructions tell you to. So I was finally able to jab the pin in hard enough to get the glue removed from the glue tip.
So what should have taken like five to ten minutes, took an hour. I think my crafting supplies are conspiring against me.

I think that a lot about our trendy craft supplies that they conspire against us, lol. I got rid of my large scoring board. I do have a mini one. I use my paper trimmer for scoring. I go really old school and use my ruler and a pen that ran out of ink, lol.
I almost bought the Bearly Art glue because I thought the honey bear bottle was so cute, I am a sucker for cute things. I thought why can’t I buy an empty bear bottle on Amazon, put some glue in it and a needle nose tip. Now, I have a glue bear.

I've messed up many a card because either my paper or my trimmer is out of square ( or my eyes are) so I understand your frustration. When my glue tip gets clogged I pull it off and soak in a bowl of warm water. Cleans up pretty easy.
(((hugs))) we all have days like that. NOTHING wants to behave itself!
I like having a big scoreboard myself but it is true. A person could do it with a stylus or their emboss tool and a ruler on a semi soft surface. Before I had the board I was only doing the center folds, so I just folded in half and ran my tool over it to smooth out the fold. I did not know about the boards.
As for clogged glue....I just accept that. They all do it eventually to me.
Hope your day goes better!

I'm wondering if the marks I assumed were quarter inch marks were another measurement. It just has the little marks, no numbers to tell you what the meausrement is.The scorepal i have is an older one, and it doesn't have the 1/8th meaurements, or even all of the quarter measurements. Although, I did read that some of the score boards out there are off just a little bit with the markings.
Considering getting another large one, as I do like occasionally doing fun fold cards and other things.
Which ones do you have? Pros/cons? How about the Stampin Up one? Work good?

Oh Chris, I feel your pain! I had to get rid of my favorite Carl trimmer some years back when it suddenly started cutting crooked, argh! Same with my Fiskars trimmer. Now I use a large Fiskars rotary trimmer for heavy card stock, but it's so big that I have to put it on the floor to cut and that just kills my back and knees. I have a large, older version of the Scor-Pal as well, and it has a whole variety of different score lines that don't even seem to have rhyme or reason. When I score for a card base, butt the edge up against the left hand side of my scor-pal, and score at one half the measurement that I want the finished card to be. After I fold and crease with the bone folder, I trim off the excess. I NEVER end up with the folded card base not needed to be trimmed a bit, so now I'm just used to it. I usually cut and fold a stack of card bases at one time so I can just cut, fold and trim and get it over with.
I recently got the smaller Scor-Buddy, which has the 1/8 scoring lines and seems a bit more exact, but I like using my bigger board for assembly line card base making,, and for making my own envelopes. I don't plan to get another large board, but will just deal with its quirks and trim where needed.
Good luck!

I have the large and the small Martha Stewart scoring boards. I've had them for years, and I think they work perfectly. The only times my scoring has ever been off is when I've made a mistake with my measurements. I'm not sure if they're being manufactured anymore, but maybe you could find a similar design.
And I feel your pain too. It's so frustrating to sit down and create, and then have so many things not work the way they're supposed to. I hope your next project goes more smoothly.
I have the large Score-It and the large Martha Stewart scoring boards. Hands down the Martha Stewart is my favorite. The other one is in it's box and has been for years. I'm not even sure why I've kept it......LOL

I was unable to decide between the We R Memory Keepers and the Stampin' Up one, so I ordered both. Got a good deal on both of them, and they both had features I like, so they will get used. My husband probably thinks I'm nuts to order both, but that's o.k.. lol.
Thank you for all your kind words and input!

I'll be interested to hear what you think of each of them once you've tried them out. And you can tell your husband that you need two scoring boards, because you have two hands, haha! Hope they work for you.

Just an update. I got the large We r Memory Keepers board. It is good. It is only slightly off, easy to trim off with a pair of scissors. It has grooves every eighth of an inch, and I like that the tools are stored in the back of it. I dont think the slight offness will effect much. I did buy it off ebay, so who knows if it was just an off one. Waiting fot the SU one, hopefully will get it soon. But so far satisfied with the WRMK. I have the mini one in that brand and love it. Just wanted the bigger one for larger or different projects.
It is so annoying to me that this particular type of product should be off (as well as cutters). I cant stand when I make a card and "something is wrong" and I finally realize the card base is not really plumb so now my sentiment doesn't look right...I have my own issues with getting stuff straight so I work at it and then feel bushwhacked. ugh.
I hope the SU one is perfect!
Are there even expensive embossing boards to be had for better accuracy? There are expensive rotary cutters.
