Question Any ideas for family guests?

My son, daughter-in-law and their 5 month old son are coming to visit next week! YAHOO!!! My son just graduated from Medic Training in San Antonio, Texas. They are only going to be here 4 days :-( and then they go to El Paso, Texas.

Does anyone have any ideas on a little something I could make for them. I have bought zillions of things (OK, I exagerate) for my grandson, but don't have anything for the adults. My son and his wife are both 20. The only thoughts I have had are a basket or tin with things they may have forgotten, sort of like a hotel ~ shampoo, soap, lotion, etc. I don't have much time, before they come, but would like something wonderful to put on the table in their room.

I know all of you SCS'ers have wonderful ideas, I NEED YOUR HELP!

THANKS A BUNCH!!!

These are things I always forget when I go to my inlaws:

Hair clips/rubber bands
Infant Tylenol
Bag for dirty clothes
Sunblock
Tums
Visine
Kleenex

Hope this helps!

How exciting for your visit and congratulations on your son completing medic training. Is he is the military? Anyhow, well since they are a young couple maybe make them a card and in the card, make a coupon for them to go out while you babysit and if you are feeling really generous put a gift card to a local restaraunt. Whenever I visit my inlaws she has this basket set out and in it are clean towels and a few snacks. Then on the side tables she puts bottled water and an alarm clock. Oh and extra pillows and blankets at the bottom of the bed just in case we need them. Is your daughter in law into stamping or scrapbooking? Maybe pre-decorate a 6x6 or 8x8 album so all she has to do is slap some photos in? Oh and since they have a baby maybe buy some wipes and diapers since I am sure they will run out during the visit.
hope that helps:p

Well...anyways...I would have loved it if my mom had made the food I loved when I was growing up. She would go grocery shopping for me and my girls before I came into town, so ask for a list. We came from Texas to MD.
It's not a gift, but it sure helps out when you have a little one. All those travel size toiletries for baby are great too. Sounds so great to have them coming home I bet you are really looking forward to it!

How about a few magazines? After all, they need something to do because if you are like me you will be ignoring them and focusing all of your attention on the baby.

When we went to my db and dsil my sil had a basket with essentials on the dresser. It contained things like travel size shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, lint brush, and other assorted things we may not have thought to pack. I thought it was a very lovely touch. Kinda felt like I was at a swanky hotel;)

I put magazines, bottled water and small snack packets in my guest room. It may not be the case with your son, but I'm sure some of our guests don't feel comfortable rummaging through the cupboards when they get hungry.

I love the suggestion for homecooking. When I visit my parents, I always appreciate some good comfort food.

I like to leave the "extras" for my guests, like the towels/blankets/pillows/kleenex/etc., and sometimes I'll make a cookie bouquet to leave on the table in the guest room. Snacks are a good idea, since they may feel funny rummaging through your kitchen when they get snacky!

I always put fresh flowers in the guest room when I have guests. They brighten the room and make it welcoming.

You got some great ideas from the other ladies. I'm thinking of something totally different though. Have you purchased a graduation gift for your son yet? When my good friend graduated from Nursing School we gave her a Littman Stethoscope which is almost top of the line. She loved it!! The one she had was very basic and old and she was very grateful for the new, fancy one to begin her new career.

Cool

What a great idea! Can you give me an ida were I can purchase one? From a medical supply store? Possibly on the internet?

Thanks, BilliePam
