Default Adhesive for Gift Cards???

Hello, all! I need some help. I'm making gift cards for my boyfriend's restaurant and I'm trying to figure out the type of adhesive that everyone uses to attach the plastic gift cards to the card itself. You know what I'm talking about? That gummy stuff that you have to peel off after removing the card.

I'm also looking for ideas for card designs for these gift cards. He owns a Japanese restaurant in Fort Worth, TX so I'm brainstorming right now. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Too bad the KIMONO set is retired, that would've been perfect. Know anyone who has one available?

Thanks for your help.

Thought about it but afraid it would get too messy. The ones that the "professionals" use are neater and cleaner. I'll try it later this week and let you know how it goes. Thank you!

Why don't you invest in the "slit punch"? It's a nifty way to insert the gift card into a card

I use the slit punch, corner punches, or temporary mono. The temporary mono will just rub off with your finger into little balls when you pull the card off. I think that is what you are talk ing about.

I know the stuff you mean, it's on your credit cards too, when they arrive. Have no idea what it's called though! You might try calling an office supply store or visiting one and asking!

For ideas you can take a look at the website of OSA: www.orientalstampart.com .
They have a lot of resources, galleries, etc.
If you're looking for a kimono stamp, then take a look at their vendor links.
It's not SU, but probably you want to try another company.

Did you try the BST board for Kimono? Since it's retired, you might be able to find one!

There are dots of the stuff that come in a sheet and it's called Wacky Tack. The store I teach at carries it for $1.99.

I have tried the slit punch but the punch won't go as far into the page as i need it to. I've thought about doing a small background to the gift card and layering it on to the card itself but I'm trying to cut costs on paper.

I called Hobby Lobby and Michael's this morning and they don't know what it's called either; they suggested Plasti-Tak.

I think mini glue dots would work really well-and all you need is one to pop it down. Plasti-tak is (if I remember correctly) a little thick and not so "clean" looking.

Ok, for those who care...this is what I have found out today about this "Credit Card Glue"...

3M has a produce called "Jet Melt Adhesive" (aka "gummy glue") and it is sold only by distributers. It is an industrial product, which also requires a special glue gun to operate. They have a less industrial product called "Hi-Tek, Lo-Tek" and that is only sold through distributers as well.

However, I found a message board online that calls it "snot" and says you can get them through a print house.

Anywho...I'm going to test out rubber cement, glue dots, Plasti-tak, and Wacky Tak this weekend. Wish me luck.

Thanks to everyone who has given suggestions. It is much appreciated.

Zots (glue dot adhesive) by therm-o-web! These are great. They come in 3 sizes! I bet the small would work fine.
