Anyone else out there sitting with Double Sided Paper and queesy about using it?
I don't know why, I have no problem using single sided paper on my cards and scrapbook pages...but it feels like I am wasting the side you won't see with DS. I am going to try turning up the corner and anchoring it with a brad, eyelet etc, but am reluctant to do anything else.
How do I get over this?????? I guess I will just have to bite the bullet and cut that first piece! Any suggestions?
Yep, I know what you mean! I did one card using my spring paper and turned up the corner. I also did one of those little purses with the 5 in 1 envelope template so both sides are seen. I'm not sure what a criss cross card is yet, but I'm off to look!
One nice thing - no matter what kind of card I make, there are always scraps of paper left over. Then I use the opposite coordinating side as a matt if pieces are big enough.
One other quick comment. I use most of my double sided paper for scrapbooking, so the opposite side is used for the next page in my scrapbook. I put my scrapbook pages in sheet protectors, so this works out great.
If you had 3 months to scrapbook, 4 years of High School, you would be slicing and dicing that paper! That was my first scrapbook project for my daughter last year. I never had the fear, as I "only" feared not getting done. Just look at it as, creativity, moving forward, and enjoy the colors. If you make use of the two sides great. If not, so be it. I did use A LOt of DS because it coordinated so well. It is a huge timesaver.... Due to having to DIVE in, I never experienced this feeling. Rest assured, there is more paper to be had, should you not like what you are doing. If you save it, when the new paper comes out, you won't feel like you should get it. If it is gone, well, then, you absolutely NEED IT!!

Duh, I checked the gallery and I always knew what the criss cross cards were. Just forgot what they were called! DS paper is excellent for this type of card!
I held onto my Spring Flowers paper from the first of March (when I ordered it) till it actually came out in the catalog. :-) Then I knew I could buy more. I still have to chant to myself "I can buy more if I want it" the entire time I use double sided paper! I am pretty sure I've gone over the edge. LOL But I'm takin' my double sided paper and my hodgepodge hardware with me!
It took me awhile to break it in but once I did - I had no problem! I have problems using any new stuff...Hee. It looks so pretty in the packaging! LOL
Fold over Tags and Envelopes are great with the dual sided papers too. I also did a Wild Card Template one with the dual papers. They are great for alot of things.
Look through the gallery.

I have never made a Criss Cross Card. I saw these types of cards in the gallery, but I haven't been able to find out how to make them. Can anyone tell me how to make them or give me a link to this info? Thanks! LM :-)

He, he, I am so relieved. I figured I was the only crazy one who had trouble using new items -- yes, they look so pretty in the packages. I started buying 2 of things I really really liked so I could easily open one and it would be okay because I had another pretty one still in the package. How crazy is that!!
Some of the two sided paper I have is just like cardstock so it is easy to make a card from it. I cut it into card size and use the solid side for the inside and the patterned side for the outside. You can see both sides and can layer something on the outside and the plain inside can be stamped or a verse can be printed with the computer. Now I really pay attention when I am buying two sided paper to make sure I am buying the heavier kind.

Ooh, the paper is so beautiful. You gotta cut into it! Once you cut into it the first time you will find it easier. It's amazing how far a pack of the designer paper will go!

I am a HIR- that's Hoarder In Recovery. I figured out the other day that I must have around 600 pieces of 12x12 PP some DS some not. Everything nice I save: SU!, Basic Grey, Scenic Route, My Mind's Eye, Wild Asparagus, the list goes on, I have paper I don't even know about, I think! I've just been forcing myself to get it out and use it, and here's why:
IT GOES OUT OF STYLE! Use it now! You won't like it in a year or two-it will look dated!!
I too am a HIR. I really had a heck of a time making that first cut in my Spring Showers and Spring Flowers ds paper. Once I worked up the nerve to take the plunge and use it I was amazed how fast I went through it. My cards were way cute too. It was my experience that the dsp made my projects come together fast. Take the plunge, make the first cut!!! You won't be sorry!!!
