Before you leave a comment, do you read what others wrote?
After I left a comment for someone's card today, I realized it was really close to what somebody else had said a few posts back. I hadn't read any of the other posts before I typed, just said what I thought. Would you find this irritating if you were receiving comments that were almost identical? Do you read the comments before you add one? Do you try to say something totally original? Just wondering...

I don't read the other comments before I post one... I just write what I like best about a card.
I don't find it irritating when I get similar comments on my cards either... hey, if 5 people all say they liked my layout, I know it was really cool!

I usually no not read others comments. I comment on what I like about the card. It is too time consuming to read others comments, plus it gives more time to keep looking at more cards, to give more comments. Which I think is more important. The comments are for the receivers.

I generally try to read the previous comments and make mine different if I can; however there are only so many superlatives in the language and only so many ways you can say you like something.

I avoid reading other comments because then I can't think of anything creative to say about the card. It's like that game Taboo, as soon as they tell me what words I can't use, those are the only words I can think of.

I don't read the posted comments. I just type what I feel or think about the item (card or whatever).

Anything positive that someone writes about my card is welcome and appreciated! I would never be annoyed by that!!;) I think sometimes when there is one particular thing about a card that makes it "stand out" most people will comment on the same thing anyway! And anyway, how many ways can you say a card is nice! Sometimes when I'm leaving comments I struggle to come up with new synonyms (is that the right word?) for pretty, nice, great, fantastic, fabulous, stunning, etc.! Also, it seems I'm always taken by the choice of colors that are used and in the short time that I've been here, I can't count how many times I've said 'Great card, love the colors'.
I've meant it every time!!!

LOL! At least we know we're not alone. And I forgot to answer the other part of your question. I never mind at all if someone posts a comment very similar to another one. I consider every comment a gift.

I usually won't leave comments if I see that there are already three pages of them. I occasionally skim comments (not sure why though!), but I write what I want to say, even if it's repetitive. Sometimes, I'll just say "great" or "love it" or something equally general, but only if I am in a hurry and would rather comment lamely than not at all, LOL! Most often, I focus on some specific part/aspect of a card that appeals to me.

typically don't read what others have written unless I have a question about something not in the discription and want to see if it was answered in the comments before asking myself...
reading what everyone else has said takes too long, especially when we're all in agreement that the card is great!

I am somewhere between the second and third posts. I read some comments but not all and post whatever I want to say that I like about the particular card or project.

Before posting a comment to someone's card, I do not read the comments made by others. That would seriously cut into the time that I set aside for making comments. I prefer to use my time looking at more cards and leaving more comments.

Ditto. I don't mind repetative comments--all feedback is good, and appreciated.

i usually say what i mean and mean what i say (that's what my mom always told me to do) sometimes it happens to be the same opinion as others and i don't think there is anything wrong with that.
i do read them if there are say less than 10- but when you get to multiple pages... i just say it like it is!

I don't usually read them...Ditto on what someone else said about putting thoughts/words into your head first.
If my commnet is similar to someone else, then no biggie! We either think alike or what was said about the card is true!!

I usually don't read the other comments. If I'm repeating what everyone has liked about a card then that just reinforces why that was a great thing to add to the card to whomever created it.
I also try to always leave a comment on at least one detail about the card that I liked.

Or love the layout...I used to skim the comments so I didn't say the same thing as someone else - be original ya know...now, when a card catches my eye, I say the first thing that comes to mind - then I might skim over the comments that were left to see what someone else thinks.

They are my thoughts so why let someone else influence what I have to say...only on occasion if I notice as I'm skimming down the list what's been said I may comment that I agree with whoever.
I also don't care how many comments a card has if I like it and it has a 100 already, I will still tell leave my thoughts on the card or project.
Now Im going back to read this thread!

I barely have time to look at any cards so I never bother reading the comments before leaving my own. I DO try to leave comments when I'm able and just say what I want. I've always been very happy to receive ANY comments on my work...they don't need to be original. Hope others feel the same.

I chose the "skim" option - I try to look over what others said to maybe notice something that I hadn't already. That being said, if the comments go to page 2 and beyond, I never look over those. Just add mine and go on.

The results of this question have been really interesting to me. I think we all seem to agree we don't mind similar comments. Here's something that just occurred to me...We should start a thread with the most interesting/original comment we've ever received! ;)

Same here. And yes, I do try to read through the previous comments to see whether someone has already mentioned what I was going to say. Rather than just parrot the other comment, I look for another aspect of the design to mention and add that to my previous thoughts. I figure if I give detailed feedback, then the person can use that to help design their next creation -- plus that's the kind of comment I like to receive myself as it helps make me a better stamper!

I never read other's comments as my time on this site is so precious and limited (although I'm sure my husband would not agree with that statement . I feel like I want to leave feedback so the artist can know how appreciated their card is (lovely, creative, or whatever), but if I spent all that time looking at other's comments then I would never say a thing.

Usually, I don't read the other comments. It takes too much time. However, if I think of something I want to ask the artist, then I skim through to see if someone else has the same question and to see if the question got answered.

Nope, don't tend to read the other comments. I view the card (or item pictured) and leave my own impressions/thoughts in the comments.
