Default acrylic sealer - What do you use???

I'm trying an altered clipboard and my craft ink is smearing when I apply Modge Podge (see this thread). They suggested that I use acrylic sealer to seal it. I use hair spray for sealing pastels but thought I'd go to ACE and pick up some acrylic sealer as I found suggested in previous threads. Well the Helpful Place had NO idea what I was talking about, and after some explaining they showed me some clear acrylic paint that I don't think is what I wanted.

So my question is what is acrylic sealer, what kind do I get and what brand do you suggest.

I also want it in a spray.

You can of course you Krylon spray, but I really like to paint on my sealer so I can get it into every nook and crevice.

I use Delta Creamcoat Gloss Exterior/Interior Varnish. You can get it at Wal-Mart, Michael's and JoAnn's. I am sure most craft stores have it. It is soap and water cleanup and dies to a *very* even finish.

I have used this for years in painting and now seal all my wooden blocks with it. At under $3,00 for a 4 oz. bottle, it is cheap!

See, I'm looking for a spray since my craft ink smeared when I applied Modge Podge.

What is the Krylon Spray? I saw spray paint at ACE that was Krylon brand so what type of Krylon would you suggest I get?

Also you can get Krylon at Wal-Mart. Ace is the most pricey place to buy it. It also comes in Matte, Semigloss and Gloss so you have a choice as to which finish you would like. Semigloss highlights just enough with out the gloss glare. Matee is just that, flat!

You can also get Krylon Matte spray at JoAnn's if they don't have it at WallyWorld....our JoAnn's keeps it in a a locked cabinet in a "lost location" near the center of the store (I say this so that if you don't find it where you think it should be, keep looking! ). If you have a current coupon, you could get this for 40% off -- regular price here for the spray was $6.95.

I have been using PLaid brand spray sealer. It is called "Patricia Nimock's Clear Acrylic Seale matte". I think I bought this at Michael's. It is in a white bottle with a black/blue label. Hope this works for you....

I just had a thought about what you said about Modge Podge smearing your ink. If you spray your stamped image with Krylon Matte spray it will seal it; you could then apply the Modge Podge without having the smearing problem. By doing this, you would still end up with the nice, hard shiney surface on your clipboard....just a thought.
