Default Help with Slit Punch

Hi, I'm looking for help with the slit punch!! I thought it looked easy like you just needed 1/4" extra and punch, but it goes in about 7/8", if you could post directions I'd appreciate it. Not sure how to work my around in here with replying etc.

Someone told me Julie HRR had a sheet on using this slit punch, but I cannot find it in my searching. This site is huge and awesome.

TIA...

I know JulieHRR has excellent directions for the slit punch. But the other night I realized that if you cut your cardstock 5" wide and slide the punch all the way in it will be perfectly sized for a gift card. I trimmed the excess off the edges to fit into my "purse", coincidentally also designed by JulieHRR! (Thanks, Julie.)
