I want to first say I am sorry that I am unable to contact you each individually and did not get this info to you sooner. It has been almost 2 weeks now and there is no hope left for our desktop computer! Looks like I have lost everything on there -- emails, my favorites, any great document that I have copied from here! But that is ok I shall be ok!
Thank you all so very much for your generousity and trust in me. Thanks to all of you we were able to give Daven a $75 gift certificate to Fandango.com (movies), $150 gift certificate to Ruths Chris (steak house) and $535 in gift certificates to Amazon.com!!
Daven was surprised and overwhelmed with everyones generousity. From the cards to the many gifts he received!
It just goes to show that when we unite we can do awesome things!

He very much deserves it. And if he wants to sell the elephant card I gave him there was someone who wanted to buy one on my gallery site. Put it on eBay and make a fortune. I wish!

Great to hear the update and thanks so much for getting it organised. Glad to hear Daven was a little overwhelmed, for his part in a great site like SCS, he deserves some recognition.

I did have a helper ;) Tasha helped me to send out all the emails we could in a matter of a couple days and helped to respond to them as well!! She is awesome for helping me!!!

a *little* overwhelmed? I noticed when Tracy posted the thing about sending me cards. so I figured I'd get some cards, and that's always fun. but presents too! holy cow, unbelievable. and the nice thing was, Tracy probably loves Ruth's Chris even more than I do, so it's a gift for her as well.
the biggest casualty of all this right now - the growth of the site, me working full-time and trying to do this too - is my family. I'm trying right now to transition away from my job, to build a business around the site and other projects. but to do that takes every free hour I have, and more. it's been tough on Tracy and the girls, and me too. it has to be a transitional thing; working essentially two jobs could never work as a permanent arrangement.
I say all that to say that it meant a great deal to me when you all spent your own time and money to send notes and cards and gifts. we were out of town this weekend, and when we got back there was a birthday card for Alex (she's turning 7 May 16th) in the mail from one of you (can't remember who right now!). wow, what an unbelievably nice thing to do!
I hear thank-you's from people just about every day in one form or another, and it never gets old. quite often I feel like it's me who should be thanking *you*, and not the other way around, because so many of you make contributions to the community that can never be adequately repaid.
so yes, thanks again for all the presents. we haven't even had time to go to dinner yet, but it's definitely in my back pocket as soon as we have a free weekend!
First off, THANKS so much Shelley for organizing this.....I know you had a TON of time wrapped up in this to pull this off! It was fun to be part of Davens birthday surprise!
Secondly, Happy Birthday again to you Daven! You truly deserve every "thank you" and "cyber pat on the back" you get!! We know that you have put a TON of time and hard work into SCS for us! Please take care of your family too...they should remain right at the top of your priority list. But we would be thrilled if your working situation works out that you can build a business around the site and other projects too!! Good Luck!!

Daven - you deserve that and more. But what you deserve even more is to ditch the site for a weekend and go enjoy your family!!! We'll live - you proved that when we took the forums down. We promise not to whine when you go for the weekend!;) Enjoy it!
