I was reading the post about unmounting the wheels and went right to work and got them unmounted. Now I can't find the acrylic block to fit them. I think CHF use to have them but now I only see three sizes and that's not one of them. Any help here for that size block?
I don't know what size or what manufacturers make them but I've seen the long narrow ones at my LSS's. Hopefully someone else will know where they are.
You can find 7 x 2 inch Inkadinkado blocks on eBay... that should be large enough for both regular and jumbo size wheel stamps. I just bought some clear blocks from SmART Rubber and had them make a custom size one for me... 1.25 x 7.25 inches... for my regular size wheel stamps. I wanted to have a little bit extra on my block to make sure all of the stamp fits on it. Hope this helps.
Oops... I meant to say that I wanted to have a little extra space on my block to make sure the entire stamp fits onto it. I haven't received my blocks from SmART Rubber yet, so I can't vouch for their quality and whether or not I did the right thing by getting a block that's 1.25 x 7.25. I've read on the internet, I I think here on Splitcoast, that the quality of their stamps is good. They're also a little thicker... 3/4 inch... some other brands are 1/2 inch thick.
I think Sunday Int. has them too. www.sundayint.com. They have great customer service...I've never had any problems. I'm at work so I can't look and see what size exactly it would be, but they have one that's 2x7. Would that work? They have other sizes too. HTH
I have the two wheel stamps that go with the Loads Of Love set... called Tailgating and Time For A Tree. They both measure a smidge under 7 inches long and a smidge over 1 inch high... untrimmed. I've unmounted the stamps but have not trimmed them yet. Because I haven't decided if I'm going to trim mine, I figured I'd play it safe and get a block that's 7.25 x 1.25 inches... that way the stamps will fit whether I trim them or not. I think if I were to trim them, they would fit onto a 1 inch block fine.
I'm guessing that all the regular size wheel stamps will be 7 inches long, otherwise Stampin Up would have to make different size wheels to fit the rubber images onto... it wouldn't make any sense to do that. However, the height of the images might vary a little, so you should probably measure all the wheel stamps you have unmounted to see which one has the largest height measurement, and then buy a block that will fit that particular stamp... that way you know the block will be big enough to fit all the other stamps you've unmounted so far. If you're planning to trim the stamps around the edges, then it would make more sense to take the measurements after you've done that.
I ordered from smartrubber.com too. It's been over a week and they never acknowledged my payment or anything so I hope they have my order and are working on it. I wish Rena was still making them-she had the best service. If they truly are making them like Rena did, like they claim on their site, you won't be disappointed.
Did you pay through PayPal? I did and I received a notice and receipt number the same day. Then two days later, I received a notice from USPS saying that a shipping label had been made for my package, and I was told it had been mailed that morning. Perhaps you should get in touch with SmART Rubber/SmART Works and ask if your order went through okay.
If you have a Cuttlebug, the unmounted wheels (and background stamps) fit on your B or C plate. I was thrilled when I read that here on SCS. I love having my BG and wheels unmounted.
My local WalMart has a huge acrylic block in their craft section-- I'd guess it was probably 3x7", maybe 4x8".
That's the only size block they carry, and it's next to their teeny-tiny clear stamps. I remember thinking when I saw it that whoever ordered that stuff must not be a stamper or know how those two things should work together. ;)
This page tells how to place an order: http://www.smartrubber.com/smartsite_029.htm
Just send them the email and specify which size you want and your paypal email address and they'll send you a paypal invoice for it.
Thank you very much! I believe I will be placing an order with them!
I got a 7x2 inch clear block by Inkadinkadoo at ACMoore. It seems to work fine. I just used the 3M double sided tape to hold it on and it well. I used it with a jumbo wheel sized stamp and the stamp was a teeny bit wider than the block, but it still worked great.
