I love my Prismacolors!! They are colored pencils that are like butter! Plus when you do the mineral spirits/stumps technique, they blend wonderfully. Here is an example I've done:

Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Check your prices carefully. This is what I've found on the Viking.com web site:

AL2-3602 Prismacolor assorted colors 120
List Price: $148.90 Viking Price: $56.98

Enter in Promotional Code DZ2-PRD20 at checkout for a $20 one time coupon off any order $50 or more, and this brings it down for a grand total of $40.42 which includes tax. Shipping is free with any $25 order.

Even if Hobby Lobby sells them for $100 at 50% it's still $50. It's cheaper to buy thru Viking and they are QUICK with their shipping times!!

I NEVER used my regular watercolor pencils, but since I heard so much about the prismacolor, and then the great deal from viking I just got my order and I love them. They have beautiful colors and they add so much. It is fun coloring in all those great sketches stamps, or to add dimension to any card or page. I don't regret getting mine!

When I log into the viking.com site it shows the price to be $97.98, not $56.98. Am I going about this wrong?

d.millican - I think what you need to do is click on "order by catalog number" on the left side of the home page. Enter in the coupon codes, then you should see the cheaper price. HTH

If you cannot do it online, call and give the number to the service rep and she will put in the order for you. Also give her the $20 off code for that. I had to do it that way and I would say the majority of us had to do it that way. Here is the number:
*Remember if you have trouble getting the promotional deals online, you can call them at
1-800-421-1222

Good luck

I Just went to Viking and got mine for the cheaper price. Thanks so much for the great tip prhansen. I was gonna wait for tomorrow for 50% off at Hobby Lobby which would have been a lot more than I paid. SCORE!!!!!

Any quality art supply store sells Prismacolor pencils individually. If you're not sure that you want to invest in a large set, you can buy a few and try them out first. They also sell smaller sets.

I haven't tried the mineral spirits technique yet, but I have a Prismacolor blending pencil that works rather nicely.

Hope that helps.
