6 inch square cards
 

For those of you who make 6-inch square cards, what size envelope do you use and where do you buy them? I just placed an envelope order from clear bags.com but they didn't have 6.25 inch envelopes. Do you use 6.5 inch? That seems large unless your card is really thick. Also, how much does it cost to mail them? Is it just .17 extra like with the smaller square cards?

I tend to make mine 5.75x5.75 or 5.5x5.5 as the US Post Office charges a lot extra to mail anything bigger than 6.25x6.25. So, I make mine to fit into a 6x6 envelope, which is also an easier size to find. If you stay under 6.25x6.25, then it should just be the same as mailing a smaller square card in a square envelope. If it's larger, then I think they charge you like it's a package or large envelope.

Marco's Paper sells 6" and 6.5" envelopes, they have excellent service as well.

I use the 6.25x6.25. I found them on ebay. Also Allen Party supply carries them too. I don't remember the price but not bad.

I purchased 6.25 inch square envelopes at clearbags, unless you have really bulky cards these work well for 6 inch square cards.

Speaking from experience, it actually costs an additional 20 cents not 17 cents to mail a square envelope - ask me how I know! My poor relatives got notices that they owed 3 cents on the invites they received from - oops!

I looked for these before I placed my order last week and couldn't find them on the site anywhere. Today I look and they're there! I'm so disappointed because it takes me about a year to use up $40 worth of envelopes and their shipping is high when you place a small order. I wonder if any brick and mortar stores carry this size?

I always add the extra .17 cents to square and all mine get where they are going and do not arrive extra postage due...I think it totally depends on the Post office.

I've checked clearbags and the shipping is insane to Canada...does anyone know where to get a bunch of 6.25x6.25 here in Canada?

Did you try clearbags.ca (note the dot CA)

I don't know what their shipping is and their prices are much higher than in the US, but it might still be cheaper than if you order from the US.

I usually get mine from California Paper Goods, their shipping is pretty high to me in PA though via UPS, so I don't know what it will be to Canada. I have also purchased envelopes from Ebay for a good price so maybe you could check the Canadian site.
