Hey Guys,
I'm trying to be cheap and not buy the monogram alphas and thought I could use the big foam alpha letters that are at Walmart for .97. Has anyone done this? And if you have, how did you work around the sticky goo left behind when you peel off the pop dots? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Erika

I saw them and had the same thought--they would be great stamps! But I didn't know how to get the stuff off either, so I didn't get them. If anyone has seen them or tried it, it would be nice to know how they worked Maybe I'll just have to go try it--for only a dollar, I think it would be worth the experiment.
My Walmart had them for such a short time. I bought a few and then yesterday I saw that they had a few in the a different spot, so I bought a few more.
When they first came out (several months ago) there were several people who were posting about them. I didn't really pay attention because my Walmart didn't have them. I guess I could search threads and find those old threads.
I can't believe a newbie like me can help you all - yeah! I used De-Solv-It, also bought at Walmart, to remove the "dimensionals" on the backs of my large foam letters from Walmart. I used a cotton swab to saturate the area at the base of the dimensional until I could work the swab under the edges until it was off. If I rushed it, sometimes an impression was left on the foam. I am very content with how the letters work as large stamps now. Good luck!
I've made a few things with them! I love them even though I havent used all the ones I bought yet! I took the dot off and then after stamping just dabbed more ink on what was not covered with a cotton ball....
here are a few things I did...no dots! Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
In the craft section. My WM has them all now whereas they didn't have them at all when the rush hit. Hobby Lobby also has them, but they are more expensive there. Now the ones I got DO NOT fit on a 1/4 sheet for a card. They'll be ok for wall art decorations and such, but not for cards :(
They are in one of the craft aisles at my Wal-mart....when I first saw them a couple of months ago they were on an end-cap. Wal-mart is famous for rotating merchandise, so if you don't find them on your own, ask one of the people in the dept!
Mine were also on an aisle end a few weeks ago (way after the buzz was around on SCS)(I guess my Wally world is behind the times). Now they are actually on the aisle, but they didn't have all the letters or shapes left. I'm bummed that I didn't get a few others.
Has anyone tried this... blast the letter a bit with your heat gun and then press your Background stamp into them... hold until it's cool. It should leave a permanent impression like staming on fun-foam I'd think. Might be fun to try!
