Default 3D Challenge 13 - please join us!

For 3D13, we will be making popcorn sliders. These are little sleeves that fit around a bag of unpopped microwave popcorn. You pull up on the ribbon, and out pops the popcorn!

Here is my example:
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Here's how:

Start with 6 3/4" by 10" piece of cardstock. This will be the part that wraps around the bag of popcorn still in the plastic. Check for fit...I don't know if popcorn bags are "standard"...this is what I used. Stamp as desired. Wrap the cardstock around the popcorn and adhere the overlapping edges so that the fit is snug, but not super tight.

Using a 1/4" square punch, punch a hole in the top center of wrapper about 3/4" down from the edge and another hole in approximately the same location in the back center of the wrapper. If you do not have a 1/4" square punch, simply punch two holes side by side with the little rectangle punch, creating a hole that is square. Do not make the holes too close to the edge of the sleeve, or it will rip.

Remove the popcorn from the sleeve. Cut a piece of ribbon about 20" long. Fold the ribbon in half, and place the bag of popcorn down against the fold. Hold the ribbons AND the popcorn at the opposite end of the bag from the folded ribbon, and insert the side popcorn bag with the fold of the ribbon into the sleeve. Push it all the way to the end of the sleeve. Thread one ribbon from the inside of the sleeve through the hole to the other side of the sleeve. Repeat with the other side. Tie the ribbons into a knot and trim.

Embellish as desired. I added the crimped red wrapper and the little mini card.

Some of you may know that Michelle (boulderstamper) started the 3D challenges, but had to step down due to other obligations. I would like to thank her for starting this type of challenge, and I am thrilled with the opportunity to continue them!

If YOU have any suggestions for future 3D challenges, please let me know! If there are templates out there that you would think would be cool to try but just haven't yet....perfect! Let me know!

******

When you upload, please put 3D13 in the keyword section when you upload, and then post a link to your card here in this thread.

If you need help uploading or posting a link to this thread, check out this link:

If you are new to the challenges, please feel free to do this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us STAMPIN' !!

Thanks, Julia! these make quick and fun gifts.

I think I'm going to post the 3D challenges on Sundays, like Michelle did. I just wanted to get started!

Hi Beth and everyone else,

I love 3D projects, so I will try to join in when I can. Will it be one challenge a month?? I think I can handle that. I will have to be creative with the popcorn slider since I don't own any popcorn related stamps right now. But don't worry that will be part of the fun for me!! Thanks for taking over.

Take care, Brenda

Default I love these!

Here's my first try at these. I can picture them with hot chocolate this winter and flower seed packets for spring! What fun!!!

I did mine with the mini/individual bags of popcorn, so I adjusted the measurements accordingly.

Smile Popcorn Wrapper

Beth, Once again you have done something really cute! Do you have any instructions on how to make these that you would be willing to share? You have some great samples and I sure will make some when things slow down a little!

Default 3d challenges

I just recently ran across the 3 d challenge since I usually look on the home page for the challenges. I am psyched to try this out! Can someone tell me how I can find all of the past 3d challenges?

To find the rest:

scroll down till you see Splitcoast Challenges. click on that
look for 3D Project challenge

the rest of them should be right there!

Default 3 d challenges

Okay, I found them. I had my page set to only show two! There are some great things to make there! I really think more people would participate if the 3d challenge was shown on the home page where the sketch and technique challenges are shown. I saw several other people had commented on that as well. I can't wait to try some of these!

These would make really cute favors for Thanksgiving! Especially with the tie-in between popcorn and the Pilgrims learning to grow corn from the Native Americans.

Here's my popcorn slider. I also added a cocoa sleeve to my gallery that I did as a project for a shoebox party!
