Smile Scrapbooking Fees

Hello Ladies,

If there are any of you out there that scrapbook for a fee, I have a question for you. A friend of mine has invested about 45 hours of time into a person's scrapbooks and is at a loss as to how to charge for this. Should she charge by the hour or by the page? Some pages, as we all know, are easier than others and she has also used some of her own paper on them. How much would some of you charge? I personally have a tough enough time keeping up with my own family's scrapbooks nevermind being hired to do someone elses books! LOL

Thank you all in advance for your help and guidance. I can always count on you for help.

Sandy

If the person bought all the product, EVERYTHING, adhesive, album, tools, etc then I would charge anywhere from $15-25 an hour.
She (your firend) can on top of that give her an itemized charge of product she purchased for the album.

We all know scrapbooking ain't cheap especially if you hire someone to do it. Like you said it's hard enough to keep up with our own let alone do it for someone else. That's my 2 cents

I have heard someone say that they charged the page size plus 95 cents -

i.e. 6x6 album she charges 6.95, 8x8 for 8.95, 12x12 12.95 - not sure if this is perpage or per 2-page layout. I guess that would depend on how embellished it was.
Sounded like a good rule of thumb though.

Also would depend on the supplies. -- like if it was stamped embellishments it would not cost as much as, say buying Jolee's which can cost at least 4-6 just for those per page if you used them. So I would figure costs also into the mix.

The above sounds like a good place to start. I would then add on any special extras, like Jolee's or MM metal frames. I would also suggest that in the future, your friend work out a base price per page or 2 page spread like aboce, and an extra 'splurge' budget for those special extras before she takes on any more. That way, she is not in this situation saying "I feel x amount is fair, but they may think it is too much, so what should I charge?" Work it all out before she starts on the album.

Good luck, and let us know what she comes up with! I am very currious, as I do lots of albums as gifts for family/friends.
