I have been a scrapbooker for a couple of years now and just got involved with SU a few months ago. Since starting SU I have begun to do more cardmaking and other projects so my scrapbooking has fallen to the side. I would like to start up my scrapbooking again and use my stamps in my scrapbook. Any suggestions on how to combine my 2 loves effectively? Recommendations on using my limited supply of stamps with materials I already have (stickers and paper).

Using stamps to make my own printed cardstock is my favorite way. Look under the subtitle "layouts" and go to the second page of threads. There are a whole bunch of "layout ideas" posted by sarsam. Many of these layouts use stamps, and she has added attachments to her posts with directions on how to make her pages. She posted over 20 different layouts. This thread by sarsam shows using stamps and sponging ink to make a really nice printed cardstock as well as letter stamps to spell a name:
Alphabet stamps for titles are an obvious way to include stamping. Using the technique with UTEE (ultra thick embossing enamel) where you add and heat about 3 layers of UTEE and then stamp into it while it's hot is a great way to make an embelishment. The wheel stamps make great backgrounds or borders. It's a Date is a set that can be used for adding dates to pages. I have seen other date sets that would be good for scrapbooking. Check out the gallery under the scrapbook pages heading, and you will see a lot of stamped examples.
I was in the same predicament as you and I finally decided to stamp in my scrapbooks. I started out by using my square and circle punches and an alphabet for titles. Then I spent hours looking at the gallery for ideas in the scrapbooking section. I was hooked! So, now I am branching out and actually using stamps as backgrounds and tags on my pages. Check out the gallery. You will find some great examples to inspire you!
I'm not a big sticker person, so I use stamps as embellishments where others might use a sticker. Of course, as someone else mentioned, the alphabets are fantastic and a money-saver, too! I started stamping and scrapping at the same time, so I've never scrapped without stamps.
Thank you for all the responses. I do realize that I should maybe start small and work my way up to using stamps on every part of my albums. I can't wait to get back into it.
I find myself in the exact prediciment... in fact that is what brings me online tonight. As for the "limited supply" of stamps... I have found that I have a lot of "bug" stamps... and so I have incorpated those into my daughters baby book... every page has something to do with bugs... for an example... I have a page that is about her first bites of food... and that page is covered in "bites" with circles and some really cute misqueto (sp?) stamps... Titled "First Bites"... So to make a long story short... if you find a theme in your stamps it makes bringing them to your scrapbooks easier!

There are a couple of great resources out there. Making Memories Magazine had a fabulous special issue called stamping and scrapbooking last winter. You might check out their web site to see if they've still got issues. Scrapbook Answers mag often features stamping. Also, Autumn Leaves just came out with a new idea book called "Designing with Stamps." What I love about these resources is that they were designed by the scrapbooking world for scrappers who have not stamped before. Since I've been a long time stamper who came to scrapping late. It's interesting to see it from the scrappers perspective.

Limited supply of stamps? Join a swap so you can use yours and get back a bunch of other items made with stamps you probably don't have. Don't see a swap that fits what you are looking for? Host one yourself. It isn't hard, but it is somewhat time consuming to monitor your thread closely. It also helps to be very organized so you can get everybody's stuff swapped out correctly.
I discovered stampin' up last May and immediately started making cards and accumulating cardstock as well. Right now I have 2 Christmas stamp sets (Happiest of Holidays and Heavenly Heralds) and Sincere Salutations. Although I could use them in Christmas pages, I can't really use them for other pages. You may enjoy other companies products but I'm just trying to phase out everything else that I have (5 years of stacking up supplies). The next stamp sets I'm buying for sellabration I'm definately thinking of scrapbooking first.

If you have alphabet stickers that you love, but want a different color, use your stamps and ink. You can sand the stickers(with an emery board or sand paper) and ink them a light color and stamp over them with a coordinating color. You do need to let them dry a bit before using them.
I started as a scrapper (barely) and then got into stamping shortly after. I try to buy stamp sets that will sufice for both. I love alphabet stamps for titles. It's in right now to use stamps in your journaling for those special words you want to show off. I am getting the It's About Time set specifically for scrapping and may only use it for masculine cards I make. I do have some sets that are primarily just for cards, but only a few. Just look at the sets and determine how you would use them for a card and transfer your idea to a sb page. I do that sometimes when I am teaching my classes. I figure once I have the idea, it's easier to move things around, even if the page is larger.
