Song lyrics for journaling?
Which song lyrics have you used for scrapbooking?
There are some really good ones and I wanted to see if other scrappers had thought of other ones. I really like a few and I plan on scrapping them when I have the right pictures. So far I have only used `You're Gonna Miss This' by Trace Adkins: You're gonna miss this, You're gonna want this back You're gonna wish these days Hadn't gone by so fast These are some good times So take a good look around You may not know it now But, you're gonna miss this Others that I have thought of are Stealing Cinderella by Chuck Wicks: She was playing Cinderella She was riding her first bike Bouncing on the bed and looking for a pillow fight Running through the sprinkler with a big popsicle grin Dancing with her dad, looking up at him In her eyes i'm Prince Charming But to him i'm just some fella riding in and stealing Cinderella Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle ( i would only use the pertinent part for the photos): There's two things I know for sure: She was sent here from heaven and she's daddy's little girl. As I drop to my knees by her bed at night She talks to Jesus and I close my eyes and I thank god for all the joy in my life Oh, but most of all For butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer; sticking little white flowers all up in her hair; "Walk beside the pony, Daddy, it's my first ride." "I know the cake looks funny, Daddy, but I sure tried." In all that I've done wrong I know I must have done something right to deserve a hug every morning and butterfly kisses at night. Sweet 16 today She's looking like her mama a little more everyday One part woman, the other part girl. To perfume and make-up from ribbons and curls Trying her wings out in a great big world. But I remember Butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer; sticking little white flowers all up in her hair. "You know how much I love you, Daddy, But if you don't mind I'm only gonna kiss you on the cheek this time." With all that I've done wrong I must have done something right to deserve her love every morning and butterfly kisses at night. All the precious time Like the wind, the years go by. Precious butterfly. Spread your wings and fly. She'll change her name today. She'll make a promise and I'll give her away. Standing in the bride-room just staring at her. She asked me what I'm thinking and I said "I'm not sure-I just feel like I'm losing my baby girl." She leaned over...gave me butterfly kisses with her mama there, Sticking little white flowers all up in her hair "Walk my down the aisle, Daddy-it's just about time." "Does my wedding gown look pretty, Daddy? Daddy, don't cry!" Oh, with all that I've done wrong I must have done something right. To deserve your love every morning and butterfly kisses-I couldn't ask God for more, man this is what love is. I know I gotta let her go, but I'll always remember every hug in the morning and butterfly kisses. Letter to Me by Brad Paisley (I may use this as inspiration and write my own letter): If I could write a letter to me And send it back in time to myself at 17 First I'd prove it's me by saying look under your bed There's a Skoal can and a Playboy no one else would know you hid And then I'd say I know it's tough When you break up after seven months And yeah I know you really liked her and it just don't seem fair All I can say is pain like that is fast and it's rare And oh you got so much going for you going right But I know at 17 it's hard to see past Friday night She wasn't right for you And still you feel like there's a knife sticking out of your back And you're wondering if you'll survive You'll make it through this and you'll see You're still around to write this letter to me At the stop sign at Tomlinson and Eighth Always stop completely don't just tap your breaks And when you get a date with Bridgett make sure the tank is full On second thought forget it that one turns out kinda cool Each and every time you have a fight Just assume you're wrong and dad is right And you should really thank Mrs. Brinkman She spent so much extra time It's like she sees the diamond underneath And she's polishin' you 'til you shine And oh you got so much going for you going right But I know at 17 it's hard to see past Friday night Tonight's the bonfire rally But you're staying home instead because if you fail Algebra Mom and dad will kill you dead Trust me you'll squeak by and get a C And you're still around to write this letter to me You've got so much up ahead You'll make new friends You should see your kids and wife And I'd end by saying have no fear These are nowhere near the best years of your life I guess I'll see you in the mirror When you're a grown man P.S. go hug Aunt Rita every chance you can And oh you got so much going for you going right But I know at 17 it's hard to see past Friday night I wish you'd study Spanish I wish you'd take a typing class I wish you wouldn't worry, let it be I'd say have a little faith and you'll see If I could write a letter to me To me Do you have any other ideas? |
For a page about my daughter starting middle school I used "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield. For my son's 14th birthday I used "Fifteen" by Five for Fighting. A new house layout got "Our House" by CSN from the '70's. Whenever you have a song in your heard while scrappin' certain photos, I say use it!
Mary Beth |
I did another one with `I Hope You Dance' by Lee Anne Womack

Mary Beth, I love your signature!:D I guess that would make me 18 with 18 years experience:mrgreen:
|
Lately I've used 'Truly, Madly, Deeply' by Savage Garden, '26 Cents' by the Wilkinsons and "Amazed' by Lonestar. I love using lyrics for journalling!
|
Hi, K2! :D
I used "No Place That Far" by Sara Evans for a layout I did with a photo of my first when he was brand new: If I had to run, If I had to crawl, If I had to swim a hundred rivers just to climb a thousand walls, Always know that I would find a way to get to where you are - There's no place that far... http://scrappilyeveraftergallery.blo...-that-far.html |
i never think to use lyrics. I have used poems. I will have to keep that in mind.

This song would be perfect for a layout reflecting a year-in-the life. I used it for my son's first year of life, but it can be used for any age. It's called "Seasons of Love" and is from the musical "RENT".
Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes Five hundred twenty five thousand moments so dear Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes How do you measure, measure a year? In daylights, in sunsets, In midnights, in cups of coffee? In inches, in miles, In laughter, in strife? In five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes, How do you measure a year in the life? |
I used 'My Wish' by Rascal Flats, along with a picture of my son when he was young.
I'm doing a School Days book (for each of my sons) with pages for each year of school and need a cover page. I was thinking of using a song lyric (or poem) that talks about them growing up, anyone have any ideas? |
I like this blog challenge:
http://scrappingthemusic.blogspot.com/ A new song to scrap with. There are a few others. |
I'm making my DH an album for our anniversary and I'm using Through the Years by Kenny Rogers. It's always been one of my favorite songs.
I can't remember when you weren't there When I didn't care for anyone but you I swear we've been through everything there is Can't imagine anything weve missed Can't imagine anything the two of us can't do Through the years, you've never let me down You turned my life around, the sweetest days I've found I've found with you ... through the years I've never been afraid, I've loved the life we've made And I'm so glad I've stayed, right here with you Through the years I can't remember what I used to do Who I trusted whom, I listened to before I swear you've taught me everything I know Can't imagine needing someone so But through the years it seems to me I need you more and more Through the years, through all the good and bad I knew how much we had, Ive always been so glad To be with you ... through the years Its better everyday, youve kissed my tears away As long as its okay, I'll stay with you Through the years Through the years, when everything went wrong Together we were strong, I know that I belonged Right here with you ... through the years I never had a doubt, wed always work things out Ive learned what loves about, by loving you Through the years Through the years, you've never let me down You've turned my life around, the sweetest days I've found I've found with you ... through the years Its better everyday, you've kissed my tears away As long as its okay, I'll stay with you Through the years! Great idea for a thread! I've used:
In My Daughter's Eyes by Martina McBride Blesses by Elton John I Could Not Ask For More (forgot who and I'm too tired to go look) There's others but that's all I can think of off the top of my head. |
they played the song Let Them Be Little by Billy Dean at my dd's preschool graduation so I went with that. Great song and title if you haven't heard it!!!
|
I used In My Daughters Eyes on one of the first pages I ever made. I've also been working on a scrapbook for my mom of my passed father. It is nothing but pictures on one page and on the opposite page is a song that reminds us of him. I had a few pages done, but my DD got her hands on it, and well, I have to start over.
|
For my DD Sweet Sixteen party, she danced with her dad to Billy Ray & Miley Cyrus "Ready,Set, Don't Go". I took pictures and did a layout with the lyrics to the song. I cried when they danced together and when I did the layout. I know, it's crazy. : )
|
What great ideas! Thanks everyone!
Sassy, that song would be PERFECT for a page about the first year! I also love the song `Let them be little' I have to write the songs down and keep it in my inspiration folder!:D |
I used 'my wish' by rascal flatts as well for an album I made my niece this year for her graduation. I did pictures of her from birth to beautiful young woman and put notes in it from family members. she said 'you made me cry!' but she loved it
|
"Butterfly Kisses" was the song I danced to with my Dad at my wedding. He's dying of advanced dementia and you just inspired me to do a layout of my life with that song and pics of my dad. Thank you.
|
A while back (gosh, about 5 years ago!) I did a layout of my toddler and baby sleeping and used the lyrics from "Good morning beautiful" which was popular at the time:
Good morning beautiful How was your night Mine was wonderful With you by my side And when I open my eyes And see your sweet face It's a good morning beautiful day The lyrics were really from a man to a woman, but we were a co-sleeping family and in those early hormonal days, this song always made me feel blessed to have such sweet babies to wake up to. |
Lyrics sometimes start out as a poem . . .

Hi Karen, I made an album a few years back and all the layouts were based on a special moment in my life. I titled a special song for each layout. Then printed out the words to each song on the opposite page. These are what I used:
My wedding photo+my wedding song "You look wonderful tonight" by Eric Clapton A picture of me and my parents together(before they divorced) + "blackbird" by the Beatles (my dad would sing this to me a lot) A picure of my oldest DD when she was DX with cancer. During one of her hospital visits when I was singing this song to her I started to cry. She then took my face in her hands and hugged it. She was 19 mos old (she is now healthy;) :D ) You are my sunshine! Pic of my mom on her 50th b-day. Fun fun fun by the beachboys Pic of my 2nd DD. Hush little baby Pic. of me, my brother and sister together. You've got a friend by James Taylor Pic of my dad and I on my wedding day. Leader of the band by Dan fogelburg. Another one he used to sing for us. Pic of me and my DH on our first vaca without the kids. To make you feel my love by Garth Brooks Now I could go on and on and on. I'm big into music and using lyrics for scrapbooking! It gives us so much to use! Let me know if you need any other ideas! |
Lots of Good Ideas!
Wow!
Lots of FUN song ideas. I did page with the lyrics from a song by "Monica" - For You I Will. Always makes me think of my "oldest son". :D For You I Will |
Suscribe...I am really into lyrics and poems. By reading the thread, it has given me so many more to think about.

This made me tear up. What a perfect way to scrapbook those moments! I also danced with my Dad with that song and I have to use now too! Thanks for all the ideas! They are so great! I'll have to print this thread so that I can keep all the ideas with my scrapbooking stuff. |
After I created this thread, I did this page with my DD:
http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...0&ppuser=51299 It's using the lyrics from LeeAnne Womack's song: I Hope You Dance. |
Thats a great song to "scrap" to!:)
|
I have used the lyrics from 'Baby It's Cold Outside' by Dean Martin to make a winter wonderland layout with my hunny. I just hand wrote the lyrics across cardstock and added pics and other embellishments. He was super surprised and happy I used our winter song and adores the page!
