True. I just love cooking and would love to take cooking classes, but if I'm not going to finish it...or if I'm not going to take a CAREER in it...I'm wasting my money. And I'm not sure cooking for an occupation is for me. I do love working for GM...but somedays I don't know...I'm tired...KWIM?

Not just portrait jobs...what about nature? or even houses for magazines? Food pics are always wanted...Think freelance...or entertainment? Go to all the local concerts and get photos...send to MTV, Rolling Stone mag..etc.

Why don't you talk to Stephanie about hanging out with her when she's doing a portrait sitting. And maybe you can go take some pics of her and Selah together. She could give you a few ideas and you would have a better idea if that's something you would like to pursue more seriously.

my big thing is that I don't have a camera to do REAL photography with...

but i guess that would be the first thing after getting some money in from it.... and it would be putting anything i made back into it especially if i get a new vehicle

This is how I got started Darcy. I have not had any "formal" training. Just experience and advice from my friend the retired photographer

arhawg 03-18-2007 04:20 PM

and yeah i should go with her. or maybe i could talk to the guy who is doing the stuff for our church (who goes to church with us too) and see if maybe i could hang with them some...

That is the very best way to learn.

I've being studying and reading everything I can online in photography forums.

And you can still start learning photography with a point and shoot camera. It's just when you start doing portraits and such, you're going to need something more. It's a long time till Christmas. But maybe if you get started studying now, when it's closer to Christmas, Santa will be ready to get you a camera.

And I know that with your personality and energy, working with people in that type of setting would come easy for you.

Here is an online course in digital photography http://www.ed2go.com/utmecce/ it cost $85. It isn't a degree course. I am taking the PS CS2 class that starts on Wednesday.

Canon Rebel Digital. It is an SLR digital camera. And it is the least expensive of the Canon line. I want to upgrade but DH says I am doing fine with what I have.
