Default incorporating stamping into scrapping

Hi Ladies,

Other than the obvious alphabets for titles, what are some other tried and true ways you've incorporated stamping into scrapping? Be specific or general, I'm trying to find some inspiration. I have tons of stamps that I thought I'd use in scrapping and have only used them for cards. I need to make better use of my investment. I don't see much in the galleries of images being used, just mostly alphas... ANY suggestions will help!

Thanks,
Ravae

This is actually a list of how to use the same stamp in a bunch of different ways on the same layout (which is a current challenge on another group). But I think it gives some good ideas for image stamps.
HTH,
Anita
1. Stamp a background with it.
2. Emboss it.
3. Do the Poppin' Pastels technique with it (stamp with Versamark Ink and rub chalk over the image with a cotton ball). Great for a background or border.
4. Stamp it on ribbon, twill tape, or seam binding tape.
5. Stamp on Shrink Plastic shrink and now you have the same image in two sizes!
6. Stamp a border with it.
7. Use it for one of the letters in your title (ie. a flower stamp for an O).
8. Stamp a color book (open line) stamp in the background and don't color it in. Stamp the same image on small pieces of cardstock and color in. Mat and use as embellishments on the layout.
9. Stamp it on top of your journaling.
10. Stamp it on Photo Corners.
11. Stamp it on different surfaces: a photo, a button, vellum, cardstock, mulberry paper, slide mount
12. Use it with any two, three, or more of your favorite techniquesusing the same colors of ink to coordinate with your layout.

Thanks for the idea list. It gives me something to think about. I've been so blocked I'm afraid all I'd come up with is the stamping equivilent of sticker sneeze! The only thing I thought of was stamping an image on a tag and placing that on the page. Not so creative. And although I don't have to use a whole set per layout, I can start small by an image at a time. I like the stamping over journaling, that's what I'll try first I think. Thanks again. Any more ideas ladies?

What a great list! I can't add to it I'm afraid as I'm just like you, Ravae. I usually just stamp the title!

Can't tell you how acid-friendly (or not) this technique is, but I love to make my own layovers (I usually do them for cards though)... and I know you can buy acid-free blank transparencies somewhere (just don't know where!)...

Use Staz-On ink (I love the new white!) to stamp words or whatever on parts of a transparency the size of a photo mat and then adhere that on top of your photograph...

I just did one using Twinkling H2Os. I had several pictures of flowers and used my Spring Garden set.

I was a stamper before I started scrapbooking, so I use my stamps alot on my pages!

Oh - love the transparency idea... will definately give that a try. If I can find transparencies that is, I think they're acid free.

I have a stampamajig now so I plan to use some backgrounds. Do you use them as an all over background, or just blocks?

Daizelsgrandam - just how did you use the stamps and twinkling H2o's? Can you be more sepcific for me to picture how you used them on your layout please?

Thanks everyone - keep the ideas coming!

ravweb:

I spray a little water onto the twinkling H2o's and then use a small paint brush to "paint" the color onto the stamps and then stamp right onto my scrapbook page. If the stamp gets a little dry before I get it all "painted" then I give it a little squirt of water before stamping it. HTH!

I've been doing more and more stamping in my scrapbooks.

Here are a few examples:

* Using a background stamp to make a border
* Using a spectrum pad & stamps for background mat. Also the leaf was stamped with versamark to create depth on the backing page.
* Using stamps to create a border strip. This is part of a 6x6 calendar
* Cover decor on a linen album, stamped in craft and stazon ink
* Using Monogram stamps in a scrapbook
* Silly stuff - xoxoxoxox
* I also use stampin around wheels a LOT to create quick background paper or borders, but don't have an example here

HTH

The wheels would be great for backgrounds. There are a couple of new ones that when I saw them the first thing I thought about was scrapbook pages. I'm talking about the texture ones.

Check out this thread for ideas on background stamps in albums.
Forums at Splitcoaststampers

I'm starting to use my stamps a lot more in my albums.
1. I stamped with "fresh flowers" on different colors of cardstock. Cut them out and made a border. You can also use pop dots for a few of them.
2. I used my sizzix to make a title then used "fresh fillers" to stamp little flowers on the die cut letters.
3. There is an article in a recent Stampin Success where they create embellishments for albums with stamps.

Glance through the scrapbooking gallery to see if this gives you any inspiration. 12x12 by PMR at Splitcoaststampers

Good luck.

I have been trying to hard to incorporate more stamps into my scrapbook pages. Here's what I've been doing:
  • Using the stamp sets "It's about time" and "It's a date" to record the season, date, year, time of the event that I'm scrappin.
  • Wheeling backgrounds and borders onto my pages. That's how I fell in love the the dry brush wheel.
  • I've been using a lot of the saying's stamps on my layouts instead of written quotes. It's been easy getting some of the christmas sayings into the layouts as well as the friendship ones.
  • If I put mini envelopes or tags on my layouts, I will decorate them with stamps.
  • Backgrounds stamps can easily decorate a photo matte.
  • I've started to stamp something, cut it out, then glue it to my layout. I do this a lot with the "finials and frames" set.
  • I use the frame sets a lot - cut a picture to fit inside the frame.
  • I also use the stamp set that has all of the dots in a row, flowers in a row, circles in a row... just to make borders.

Thanks for the examples and for the link to the background thread. Very very helpful!!!! Great idea for the sayings stamps, I have used quotes and never thought of that!

I'm so glad this thread is taking off, I've looked in the gallery and saw mostly alphas, so I'm glad to see other stuff pointed out to me. It is very inspiring and I'll be using many many of these ideas.

Thanks!

Thanks so much for the ideas, and inspiration. This weekend I made some layouts and so far I used a verse as a quote and stamped an image and matted it on a tag. And I've got another layout lined up and plan to use another image on it - somehow. It's a start for me and I'm hoping to use these more and more, even if it's just one image at a time Thanks again!

I learned to scrap with stamps....so that's just about all I use.

I use stamping to:

Create my own background paper with colors and designs to match my photos
Create my own embellishments
Wordstamps and alphas to help with journaling
I love the new stamps that are like faux ribbon
And I always add texture to my layout with background stamps and wheels

I love the ideas on this thread
