Default Do you make pages with pull outs?

I use page protectors in my albums, so my pages aren't "full access" I guess you would call it. I wanted to make some pages with pull outs, but you wouldn't be able to see it unless you stuck your hand in the page protector and pulled out the tag (or pulled the page out).

I was just curious as to what others do.

A friend of mine does it by cutting a slit in the and puts a little bit of the pulltab through the slot. When she does something that flips open, she cuts exactly along the edge of the flap (flap in plastic) and then uses another pirece of plastic the exact size of the entire inside of the flap. SHe thens tapes the inner plastic flap to the outer. Sounds confusing, but it works great - I'm just not that energetic.

I put this pullout at the top of the page so it is easily accessible if you use toploading albums.

I just did a couple of interactive pages last month. I put them in the page protectors and then slid my craft mat in there and cut along the outside of the flap, or whatever I wanted open, with a craft knife and a ruler. My daughter loves loves loves these pages and they have held up really well - I don't see the plastic tearing or anything (SU protectors.) If you are worried about the slit or flap tearing at the end of the cut you can punch it with a small hole punch, too.

Question to go along with the original post...

When you cut the slit for the flaps, do you put plastic over the rest of the pictures that are in the flap or just let them be?
I take so much time with my books that I don't want the pictures wrecked.

Josephsmom04, I think that the way that Karen describes it may be what you're looking for. I don't add any extra plastic to mine. I cut a three sided flap so that when the pull-out is opened it comes out of the page protector and then when you close it, it is back under the plastic. I just put two pictures in my gallery of a page where I cut the page protector (not great pictures because of the flash and the page protector, but it gives you an idea). The full page and a blurry close-up of the cut in the protector. Also, here is a picture of a layout with a slit in the page protector. I cut several photos into tag shapes, mounted them on cardstock, journalled on the back and tied a ribbon on the top. The ribbon hangs out of the slit in the page protector at the top of the envelope.

I'm planning to do a page in my demo album that has a hinged photo. I'm going to cut the protector along three sides and punch a hole at each end so it won't tear. I don't know if I would ever do that in my "real" albums because I feel that the whole reason I put them into protectors is so that people WON'T touch the pictures and such. The other way I've seen people do it is to cut a slit at the fixed side of the object, and then let the lift-up piece just sit on top of the protector. This is also the way you would do it for a pull-out piece.

Great suggestions! I didn't think about cutting the protector. I'll have to try that! I also like the idea of the pull out being at the top of the page. Thanks, ladies!

About 80 percent of my journaling is hidden so I have this happen a lot. I just pull out the layout if I want to see the journaling. I have one layout where I made a velum envie and added several pictures of my dog that died. That one is pretty thick so I just pull it out when people want to see the extra pictures. I don't have kids yet so I don't have a problem with dirty fingers and am OK with my pages being touched and looked at.
