Question Best photo album for photo storage???

I have used photo albums in the past for storing my photos before scrapping them (hahahaha). Long story sorta short: I have seven kids, the albums were just from Walmart and the plastic, though acid-free, was very flimsy and fell apart from the turning of pages. So....I took them out of the albums, put them into photo storage boxes under cardstock tabs I made. The tabs have all the events listed on them. As organized as this is, no one gets to enjoy them at all. I am now extremely anal about the kids looking through these (eek- they might get them messed up) or heaven forbid, the boxes get DUMPED!!!

What have you found to be the most durable regular photo album? I am ready for these to be enjoyed again and only scrapbook the "bestest" of them.

thanks!
Dori

Have you seen the scrapbooks made with photo albums?? You can either use the ones that hold 2 pics with a strip of paper between or you can now buy at wallyworld albums that hold a pic on one page and a place for journalling on the facing page. If you need more info, I remember seeing this in either Simple Scrapbooks or Creating Keepsakes.

Thanks Trisha! I actually have purchased in the past the 12X12 ones from scrap smart where the page protectors have the individual pockets so that photos lay in all sorts of ways or take full sized sheets. With the amount of photos I take with seven kids, I was hoping to find a higher quality normal album to just shove shove shove! A quick fix so that they can look at their pics. I might just go back to the scrap smart and use those.

I think Target has some nice, durable photo albums that hold tons of photos (I'm thinking you might have lots). I bought a few that have withstood many years of browsing and many moves, with heat, cold, humidity, etc. and still look & feel new. Best of all, their sale prices are very good.

Do you think you will ever get to scrapbooking them? IF not or if you have no plans of doing so you could use the scrapbook albums to just put the pictures in and put the protector over them and go on....
I am planning to do this with the old pictures from when I was young...I do not want to cut them and really dont want to "decorate" the pages so I got a few 12x15 Creative Memories albums and plan to put them in side by side with a little info written below them and move on.
That way they are "safe" from all the elements, fingerprints and getting mixed as as well. AND you will have the important info on the page with them...
