I'm posting this early (thursday night) as I may be very busy sewing tomorrow. I hope that's okay.

It's Friday and time for another LIMITED SUPPLY CHALLENGE!! Iím your guest hostess for this week! Remember what it was like before you had a whole room full of stamping supplies? Let's see what everyone can come up with from this list. Remember that you can use any combination of things on this list, but you cannot use anything not listed below. When you upload your card to the gallery please put LSC24 in the keyword section and post a link to this thread so we can all go look. Everyone is welcome to play -even if you've never done a challenge before...please join us!!!

Inspiration for this challenge: When I first started stamping (not too long ago) I only had a few stamps. I mean literally. I was trying to make Christmas cards with truly the very basics. I always had the most horrible time, because I didn't have the supplies or the knowledge to LAYER and MAT things. I used just one sheet of cs, and whatever stamps I had. There were no mats and layers and all that...just the card and whatever embellishments I could round up.

So here is the challenge: No layers at all.

The Supplies

Stamps: any

Cardstock: 1/2 sheet, any color you like, just big enough for a regular size card

Ink: any

Accessories: ribbons, hemp, brads, paper clips and other household items,
colored pencils, blender pen, or anything else that strikes your fancy, as long as it is not paper.

Techniques any

Here's mine:

To me, not having lots of paper to choose from and layer has always been difficult, I'm anxious to see what all of y'all come up with.

If you can't upload to the gallery you can still play at home. You don't need everything on the list to play. Just use what you have.

Have fun!

CardFanatic 08-11-2005 07:58 PM

I very rarely make a card without layering. But I did find a few in my gallery. The last two have other papers on it, but it's very little and used as embellishments not layers. I probably won't have time to make a new one until next week. I'm going away for the weekend for my 1st anniversary!

There's a kitty tooth mark on this one! Can you see it?

Thanks for the challenge!

denier 08-11-2005 11:03 PM

here it is. this was a fun challange and my first time participating.

scrown8301 08-11-2005 11:13 PM

I should have time to sit and stamp this weekend. This one will be fun. I haven't done a single layer card in soooo long. Great idea!

GarnetJ 08-11-2005 11:15 PM

Just when I think....
Just when I think I finally got the hang of it... "must use layers on EVERY card...." here comes Becky telling me to move backward 5 years!!! NO LAYERS?
Thanks Becky, it was actually fun looking at my stamp index and trying to figure out which ones might "stand alone." I decided to try a really plain card. Just paper, rubber and ink. No embellishments even!!!

CardFanatic 08-12-2005 05:43 AM

OK, I made a card, after all! I stayed up last night to make it after I was inspired by the sandals in thecardpixie's SC33. No more stamping. Now I'm off to pack for my weekend!

evansmommytx 08-12-2005 07:03 AM

Oh fun! Can't wait to try it here in a bit. Nice ID - I'm a blue-eyed Texan too

txblueyes 08-12-2005 07:08 AM

my main id (I use txblueyes for everything, so I don't forget...) used to be yellowrose. Until we were looking at mobile homes one day, and the guy there asked me if that was my email because I worked at the yellowrose. I was like "no, what's the yellowrose?" haha, I assume since you are from AUstin you know, but in case you don't, it's a "gentlemen's club". My hubby knew, and he just let me keep thinking that was a cool screenname. I changed it to txblueyes after that. I didn't really want anyone around town thinking I was a stripper. lol

imastampin 08-12-2005 07:21 AM

I was just a bit ahead of you on this one. I created and posted this on Wednesday, but it sure fits the challenge.

I love layers, but really enjoy no layer cards every once in a while too.

lbarnes 08-12-2005 11:36 AM

This is mine. I actually enjoyed that!

JusColorado 08-12-2005 12:36 PM

I really enjoyed doing this. I should do it more often!

denier 08-12-2005 01:38 PM

this is what my first hand made x-mas cards looked like.

newinker 08-12-2005 02:48 PM

What a great day for this challenge. I got in the mail today my first trade, Daisy, I couldn't wait to use it. I also tried out a new BG. I sprayed my paper with Clorox clean up. It look's hot!

kittie747 08-12-2005 03:31 PM

Here is my entry for this challenge. I did this same card last week with a set of seasonal trees. I thought this would look great on a single layer of cardstock with no ribbon (I am a ribbon fool so that took restraint) or any other type of embellishment except the snow and glittering in the trees. I tried daubing versa lightly on the trees so I could apply Irridescent Ice EP and it looks like blobby in places. I love Love as a Tree as it gives so many useful options.

Here is an easy shoe (from Michael's) that I had on hand. I'll work on some more original ones this weekend. :)

sujeeee 08-13-2005 06:29 AM

I just uploaded so image is pending...
Here are my entries.

stampinamy16 08-13-2005 08:06 AM

I had one in my gallery too - it felt kinda funny doing it - you do get "programmed" to layer!

Rachelhope13 08-13-2005 02:09 PM

Here Is Mine
I'm getting started on Christmas cards early this year, but discovered I have NO Christmas Set any more. ARGGHH!!!!

Peglar 08-13-2005 02:54 PM

Well I am cheating on this one too. Here is one I have in my gallery.

Rox71 08-15-2005 12:47 PM

I got three done and when I saw the challenge I sighed at the thought of no layers. But I managed to pull a faux layer look for the first one and Iím happy with it, I think! My friend absolutely loves the last one and I say she's easily pleased because it's very fast to make!
#1 Faux Layers

#2 Stripes & Shadows

#3 Four Squares

auntie65 08-15-2005 04:33 PM

I'm really pleased with the way this came out. It's much nicer in person. I don't think I cheated by punching out the square and coloring behind it on the inside. It's all from the half sheet. What do you think?

sujeeee 08-15-2005 06:07 PM

rox71 - love your cards! thank you for sharing about the masking on the squares and stripes card!

raduse 08-15-2005 07:56 PM

Here's my attempt. Boy do I remember those days....very little cardstock days. :) It's pending as of 8:56 pacific time.

Limited Supply Challenge
This is my very first limited supply challenge and it was an easy one. I think the Loads of Love sets provide all the detail themselves and no layers are needed. Hope you like it:

Julia S 08-16-2005 12:35 PM

Yikes! These are hard challenges for me...there is a reason I spend so much money on supplies! :)

Here is my second attempt at this challenge...the first met with the waste basket. This is actually a limited ink card as well. I only used versamark.

Now approved!

Julia S 08-17-2005 04:29 AM

Here is another try at this challenge...

JJStamper 08-18-2005 05:03 PM

This is my first LSC. Here is what I came up with.

ruby-heartedmom 04-08-2006 08:04 PM

Flat cards, no layers:

Ooops--summer had one layer so I didn't put it here.

ruby-heartedmom 04-15-2006 04:35 PM

More flat cards. These were fun to do for the Inspiration Challenge #19. Check it out!

Thanks for the challenge.

Take One: Smiley Graduate

Take Two: Hedgehog Friends
