It's Friday and time for another LIMITED SUPPLY CHALLENGE!! Iím your guest hostess for this week! Remember what it was like before you had a whole room full of stamping supplies? Let's see what everyone can come up with from this list. Remember that you can use any combination of things on this list, but you cannot use anything not listed below. When you upload your card to the gallery please put LSC19 in the keyword section and post a link to this thread so we can all go look. Everyone is welcome to play -even if you've never done a challenge before...please join us!!!

Inspiration for this challenge:
I hate putting beautiful cards into plain envelopes. Hallmark has this series of cards that has matching envelopes that are just GORGEOUS! In the last issue of Stamper's Sampler they had a calling for postal art (envelopes that are decorated) so I got to thinking about the cards I had made recently and how I could decorate envelopes to match.

The Challenge: Go through your cards and pick one (or a dozen) and make matching envelopes. You cannot stamp any cards today, JUST envelopes. You can buy them or make them, your choice, but we are decorating envelopes. (OK, if you don't have a card, you can make one if you MUST!) Please do more than just stamping an image on the front :D

You can only use the stamps that match the card you are making an envelope for.

Cardstock: Envelopes only. You can make them out of colored c/s if you choose, but your finished product must be an envelope!

Ink: Any that match your card

Accessories: Fibers, Ribbons, EP, heat gun, markers, aquapainter, pastels, brayer, glitter, Pearl-Ex, adhesives of your choice, eyelets & setters, Square and/or circle punch.
PLUS Any regular household item such as bleach, staples, waxpaper, etc. (hint-use some of these things to make your background)

For your finished product, please post both the card and the matching envelope.

If you can't upload to the gallery you can still play at home. You don't need everything on the list to play. Just use what you have. You are more than welcome to combine this challenge with any of the other challenges going on during the week.

What a great challenge! :) I have a friend that never sends out a card with including "envelope art". My envelopes have been sorely lacking. Can't wait to play!

stampkat 07-08-2005 07:50 AM

sounds like fun!! Hopefully I can "play" later!

stampinamy16 07-08-2005 09:26 AM

Awesome Idea!!! I have been using clear envies for so long that I forget to stamp the ones that aren't!

You'll be seeing mine over the weekend!

Jami 07-08-2005 09:28 AM

Great challenge Michelle! Thanks for hosting!

Michelerey 07-08-2005 02:37 PM

You obviously had your challenge idea all planned out, Michelle. I hope Dennis will miss you! I'll be thinking about you. Good luck!

I have to get lots of cards out over the next few days so I'm stamping them too, but I'm going to try to do as many matching envelopes for this challenge as I can. Here's my first one, it also fits the color challenge for this week:

auntie65 07-08-2005 06:24 PM

The last time I went to the post office to mail a decorated envelope, the postal worker told me I couldn't place anything on the bottom of the envelope because it interfered with the automatic reader. She also stated that if the stamped area was not in a "non-invasive" place the cancel would have to be hand done. I think she was jealous of not getting a work of art on an evelope herself!
I'll see what I can come up with.

GarnetJ 07-09-2005 01:26 AM

Somewhere online I saw a rubber stamp that reads "Help Stamp Out Naked Envelopes."

Tampersay 07-09-2005 03:23 AM

The post office will use a strip on the bottom if there is imaging issues. Fortunately they peel off easily so artwork isn't ruined (that is why they put them on, right?) :)

My grandmother has a friend who has the most beautiful writing. Very fancy with lots of curly cues and flourishes. If she had written the Declaration of Independence it would hang in an art museum rather than a government documents display. She has had letters returned because the address wasn't in print. She started leaving little thank you notes to her delivery person and they stopped getting returned. I'm known at my post office as the "cookie lady" because I take in cookies several times a year. I don't seem to have many problems with the post office ;)

Michelerey 07-09-2005 11:29 AM

I've not had any problems mailing decorated envelopes and do it fairly often. I've gotten some nice compliments from the ladies at the Post Office though, now if I could just convince them to have a Show!

Too bad you can't bribe Dennis to stay away with cookies, Michelle. I'm still thinking about you and hope things go well.

Here's another one I did with matching envelope. I think they really look better in person, but the scanner just won't pick up certain colors especially when I watercolor with them. I did hand-deliver this one to my upline this morning instead of mailing it.

This one catches 4 out of 5, if I had the reinker in Tempting turquoise I would have gone for a Full House, but... Oh Well!

Michelerey 07-09-2005 08:49 PM

I had to try this idea for a twist using the new Some Like It Hot Set. It also uses Crystal Effects to adhere the string ties for the Ways to Use It challenge this week. The colors are better in person, didn't scan too well.

Just click on your card, pending or not...copy the address from your browser's address bar and then paste it into your post to this tread. (press Ctrl button and C button at the same time to copy and Ctrl button and V button at the same time to paste...faster that way.)

Granny Hawkins 07-10-2005 06:08 AM

Great challenge. Let me see if I can come up with something.

Granny Hawkins 07-10-2005 06:48 AM

I made this card at Stamp-A-Stack and did not finish envelope because I was running out of time so I finished it for this challenge.

Pending @ 9:45A.M. Sunday morning.

Thanks for the helpful advice. Got it posted & have received some "rave" reviews for a first timer, I guess. Thanks again...

auntie65 07-10-2005 04:35 PM

Here's a try at beating the post office by putting the design on the back. LOL

Rox71 07-11-2005 09:16 AM

Very good idea Michelle, I try to decorate every envelope I send unless it's made form wrapping paper.
Thanks for being the hostess this week also!
Here's the card and envey

Michelerey 07-11-2005 11:50 AM

Here's another one with a decorated envelope to go with it:

Rachelhope13 07-12-2005 03:27 PM

1 more:

Michelerey 07-14-2005 09:20 AM

One more that also fits the color challenge for this week.

Haven't heard anything from Michelle (Tampersay) recently. Hope Dennis didn't hit her too hard and that her power is just out.

rlsjohnson 07-15-2005 06:21 AM

Sounds like fun...I'll have to work on that this afternoon!

sleepyinseattle 07-15-2005 02:58 PM

I multi-challenged on this one using SC29, CC18, WT17, and LS20.
Thanks, Michelle for hosting!

sherristampsalot 07-15-2005 09:34 PM

I was surfing the gallery and someone had posted that it's so easy to stamp the envelope while you still have the stamps out and it made sense so I went back and stamped an envelope for this card! It really does pull it all together when the envelope is stamped...and makes for cheerier mail! :)

Jami 07-15-2005 10:39 PM

I did this one today

i actually also made an envie for a card i did for the Sketch Challenge, but when i scanned the card i forgot to scan the envie - oops.

Great idea for a challenge. Thanks for hosting! I hope everything is ok with you Michelle.

Cdnmom2 07-22-2005 11:32 AM

Another Envelope...
Had to add this one in...I know I'm a little late...

For whatever reason, last week when I tried to upload it, it wouldn't accept it. So this week, it did & I'm hope you all like it...!

froglady 07-22-2005 10:58 PM

Time lines
Being new to this whole challenge gig...do I have the whole week to work on it? My husband told me to get working quickly because my Friday is almost over, and in the time zone the website originates in it may already be Saturday. I figure I have a week based on the comments made by others I've seen. I am however working on getting my items uploaded. Just waiting for approval.... : :???:

Jami 07-22-2005 11:06 PM

There is a new Limited Supply Challenge posted every Friday. There's really no time limit, but most people try to finish and post to a challenge sometime before the week is over. You can really do it any time though. This particular thread was started 2 weeks ago. There was another one started last Friday and one started today. Each is numbered. Hope that helps.

froglady 07-23-2005 12:16 AM

Here's what I came up with for this challenge. No where near as artistic as some of the envelopes I've seen.

Have'n Fun!!!

All times are GMT -8. The time now is 01:51 PM.
