F4A5 - The Great White Way
F4A5 – The Great White Way – 03/26/10

AKA … BROADWAY!! I absolutely LOVE musical theater. If only I were amazingly talented I would be starring there RIGHT NOW (yeahyeahyeah!). Anyway, I thought it would be fun today to make cards inspired by our favorite musicals. For years my favorite musical has been “Joseph and the Amazing Techincolor Dreamcoat” (I have seen it on stage SEVEN times!!! TWICE with Donny Osmond – be still my 1970’s teenage heart!!!) That show has had to share the #1 spot as of the past two years with my OTHER favorite – WICKED!! I think that is the only soundtrack I have EVER memorized before I had EVEN seen the show!! (I have since seen it on stage TWICE!!).

Soooo …. With that in mind there are TWO requirements:

1. Make a card inspired by a favorite musical
2. The cards MUST be any size and/OR shape that is NOT A2, or standard size

That’s it!! Have fun!!!

Keep in mind that your creations are INSPIRED by a favorite musical and don't have to actually look like they stepped straight out of it (like "South Pacific"? Then do something with a tropical theme! "Cats"?? A card with a kitty on it will work ... just let your imaginations go with it!!).

And if the only musicals you have ever seen have been on TV?? GO FOR IT!! I started watching musicals on TV as a little girl loooonnnnggg before I EVER saw a stage production live and in person!!

Still STUMPED??? Here's a link to a website with a list of musicals that may help:

Here is my sample:

and because I am sick and didn't like THAT one, I redid it and uploaded it AGAIN!!:

Looks like wicked fun! Thanks for the early post, Wendy!

va.sunshine 03-25-2010 08:09 PM

fun challenge, this takes me back to high school, we did The Sound of Music..wow...I will take a walk down memory lane...thanks! *~*

sleepyinseattle 03-25-2010 08:41 PM

I'm right there with you on Wicked!! I listen to the cd constantly and loved the musical. I would see it again and again. Going to Broadway next week, we have tickets for Billy Elliott.

hobbydujour 03-25-2010 08:53 PM

Like you Wendy, I really like "WICKED". I like many musicals, but I happened to save the Playbill from this show and decided to cut it up for this challenge. Hope it isn't cheating! I did add some glitter. I may get a chance to do another card for another one of my favorite shows.

Clownmom 03-25-2010 09:26 PM

One of my all-time favorite musicals is "Sound of Music." Here's my card -- A Few of My Favorite Things.

It's 1:30 in the morning, and I need to go to bed. I'll be back to see everyone's creations.

cullenwr 03-25-2010 10:01 PM

Sorry, Wendy, I was so engrossed in remembering the many musicals that I love that I totally forgot we were NOT to use an A-2 size card. :-( Will post MY CARD anyway, though I deserve 10 lashes with a wet noodle. You said we should have fun and I did!

Cook22 03-25-2010 11:45 PM

Oh cool, this sounds like fun, fun fun. I loved Joseph too - still have an old vinyl record from the seventies, as well as an easier-to-listen-to CD. Hmmm, My Fair Lady is probably my favourite, if I can think how to make a card. Seven Brides and Gigi come to mind too, as I'm planning to rewatch Gigi tonight while DH is away. I'll be back after work, hopefully I'll have come to a decision by then :D.
Thanks for such a fun idea.

What a fun challenge Wendy, thanks for hosting! I'm not a huge fan of musicals, but Grease has always been a favorite of mine and my sister.

I've never seen the musical in a theater, but have seen the movie enough times that I can probably quote almost every single scene - LOL!

Here's what I came up with inspired by no other than the pink ladies:
Your Rocked It

TexasGrammy 03-26-2010 03:22 AM

Love the cool challenge, Wendy!
I adore the music from "Grease" .... rockin' & rollin'! So here's my jukebox, specially designed for playing those oldies! ;)

Grease! Back to the 50's!

SweetnSassyStamps 03-26-2010 03:56 AM

AWESOME challenge! I LOVE musicals!!!!! In fact we watch one almost daily in my house, LOL! Even my 7, 10 and 12 year old BOYS watch them with me. Yesterday it was State Fair, so I may use that one as my inspiration for today's card :)....that is unless I watch a different one. I may have to pop in Singin' in the Rain today since the boys and I were singing the songs through Wal-mart yesterday, LOL! Can't wait to play!

SweetnSassyStamps 03-26-2010 04:21 AM

Here is my FIRST submission :)...

I am fairly certain there will be more ;).

Vicky Gould 03-26-2010 04:58 AM

For some reason, my card is not showing up in the gallery - there are only six cards there - Am I the only one?

Wendybell 03-26-2010 05:07 AM

I have reported the problem on the "troubleshooting" thread. I am sure it is related to the site migration ... sigh ... I HATE being patient!! :S Hang in there, friends!!

SweetnSassyStamps 03-26-2010 05:11 AM

Mine isn't either, Vicky. I thought maybe it would just take a few minutes, but it's been much longer than that.

va.sunshine 03-26-2010 05:11 AM

markie's mom 03-26-2010 05:13 AM

I used the musical my SON directed and wrote the "book" for: "Frog Prince."

Oh, Hoppy Day!

hobbydujour 03-26-2010 05:22 AM

I thought this was a very thought-provoking challenge, Wendy. I wnted to do another card where I did more than just "cut & pasted". I chose a favorite opera of mine.....it really is a musical! It's got it all...music, solos, dancing, sets. orchestra, costumes, etc!

Wendybell 03-26-2010 05:57 AM

The SCS Team is aware of the probably with the gallery uploads and is working on it ... which, I guess, means that we still have to be patient (darn it!) ...

Wendybell 03-26-2010 06:12 AM

The gallery seems to be working now (at least for the time being). Let's keep our fingers crossed!!

MaryR917 03-26-2010 06:43 AM

imastampin 03-26-2010 07:45 AM

This was fun Wendy. I was giggling inside the whole time I made it. Maybe it was because I was talking to your sick sick self the entire process.

Anyway, here is my based on a musical card.

I hope it brings a smile to your face!

jojot 03-26-2010 07:57 AM

My guess is that the gallery is frozen again......my card has not shown up in the challenge gallery but is in my gallery......another glitch, I guess.

ejkeaton 03-26-2010 08:30 AM

This was a lot of fun to think about!! I'm afraid I had to stretch things a bit, I hope that my post adequately explains how I was inspired by my favorite musical. Here it is:

Just a Note

countrybeamer 03-26-2010 08:40 AM

I'll be singing all day long, thanks to Wendybell's inspired idea and looking at everyone's cards!!! :D What a great challenge...

Oh, what a beautiful mornin'...

etsdas 03-26-2010 09:11 AM

This is mine - but I may have to do more later!

Cook22 03-26-2010 10:07 AM

All I Want...
Is a room somewhere...with a great big chair...lots of chocolates for me to eat. I do have a chocolates stamp sitting on my desk, but went with the chair.
Such a fun challenge this was, wish I'd had time to do more than one card.
