Yes...today marks another anniversary for that dark day in US history...9/11. Not only US history, but world history. So many things have changed since that lovely autumn morning...that turned out to be so very not lovely.
Lela/Serenity_Stamper, who has been helping me with samples, sent me a PM last month suggesting today's challenge. I am so grateful b/c I, too, was a little uncertain how to approach this solemn day. She wrote:
"I remember when 9/11 happened, and I was really in a funk. I mentioned it to someone, and he said "Don't worry, Lela, God turns all things to good." That really gave me a lot of hope. So my idea is an evolution of that.... Metamorphosis, or taking something dark and watching it turn to light. Or transforming, in a good way. The obvious idea would be caterpillar becomes butterfly. Maybe an image of a child - baby grows into child. A tree, acorn grows into tree."
Today, show us a hopeful change on your card today. Lela gave several literal examples. You might also use some techniques that show change on your card. Change in color/ombre was one idea.
Additionally, I'd like to add a couple more sample makers to our little group. If you want to get more involved in the F4A samples, please send me a PM for more details!

This is for the Hopeful Change challenge by dawnmercedes. I sketched and painted this using acrylics on SU card stock & mixed media paper.
When I read the inspiration for this challenge I was immediately reminded of that day, I had gotten up to get ready for work and turned on the t.v for some background noise, I wasn't in the mood for an 'action movie' that early so I changed the channel twice before realizing it was real. That day I felt nothing but horror and heartache as we watched what was happening to our neighbors across the border. But the next couple of days I noticed something else going on - a whole lotta love, compassion, courage and kindness was showing up everywhere. So many stories illustrating those human strengths we have and that's what inspired this card. I wish for everyone, no matter what we are facing, to always remember our true nature, our kindness, courage, strength, compassion and the true source of all of those - Love! To chose to focus on the two little trees reaching for each other for support despite the destruction surrounding them, and the knowing they have that they are strong enough together to face it all.
