This looks better IRL - my hands are a mess from all the sanding and distressing I did and you can't even tell from the photo - oh well! TFL
(I'm sure the card would look better with ribbon - I'll sneak some on it now that I've posted it - teehee!)

Angela, thanks so much for this challenge. It really was one for me. I like to use several different colors so using one color in different shades is a challenge for me and no embellishements? WOW make me sweat.

I have to agree that NO embellishments were the biggest part of the challenge. I tried to make mine look like an old tattered picture. I also was limited because I have most of my supplies already packed for a scrapbooking/stamping weekend at a retreat center--I'm leaving today.
Here's what I came up with:

I did an oops last night! I was in such a hurry to get to the challenge that I didn't read the guideline that said "no embellishments". The first card I made had ribbon. Definitely an embellishment. I went back this morning and made another. This one is almost exactly like the first with one excception. I ran my CS through my crimper to make it look like ribbon! Sorry for the mixup!

I think it is o.k. to use faux embellishments, however try to stick to the monocromatic theme by using only shades of the same colors and not adding black, white, etc. Using tools to make faux embellishments should be o.k. as long as they are made with paper and ink. |

Not adding embellishments on this card was harder than I expected even tho I knew exactly what I wanted it to look like. The end product screamed *brads!*. But I stuck to the rules...
