Default What food do you wish you liked?

What is a food that you wish you liked but just hate? For me it is Tuna Salad. Anytime there is a shower or potluck or luncheon, Tuna Salad Sandwiches are served. They are quick and easy to make, and my husband loves it. I have tried to make myself like it, I have tried many different recipes and types of tuna.... but I just don't like it. Wish I did, but I don't. What about you?

I wish I could be more tolerant of condiments (mustard, mayo, ketchup). All of them are GROSS and I can't STAND them.... so fast food is hard for me.... I have to special order EVERYTHING plain....

Will you all think I'm more of a freak if I say "cheese"?

I cannot stand "raw" cheese. I love cheeseburgers, pizza and grilled cheese sandwiches, but can't eat uncooked cheese. Every few years I try to force myself by trying to convince myself it's all in my head, but apparently it's not!!!

Looks bad when you go to a "wine & cheese" and just slug back the wine!!!

I don't like Cheese either. When we order pizza I scrap everything off and just eat the bread dipped in ketchup.

The one food I wish I could eat is any kind of seafood. It just grosses me out. We got out to eat every Sunday after church at a seafood Restaurant
and all I get is chicken fingers.

i wish i liked asparagus.. everyone likes it but me.
tomatoes.. i LOVE tomato sauce on anything.. but eating a tomato is gross to me..t he texture and the seeds.. blech..

seafood and salmon.. especially salmon being as it is so good for you.
meat.. the very thought of it makes me gag and lose my appetite..
and if i have to handle raw meat.. you may as well expect me to not eat that nite cause i cant stomach it..

More cooked vegetables, like broccoli, asparagus, and cauliflower. When I worked in a daycare, just the smell of them cooking broccoli made me feel ill!!

Peppers. Red, green, yellow ... everyone seems to put them in everything. I've tried REALLY hard to like them. Last summer I made an announcement to my family that I would force myself to eat them on a daily basis until I developed a taste for them. (I figured I could prove to my kids that if you try something often enough, eventually you'll like it.) It never happened. I still can't stand them. And they "repeat" on me and it's even worse as a repeat! LOL ......

I do wished I like all those healthy foo-foo foods, like soy, tufu and the weird sprouts and whatever else I do not even know about.

Can I wish I did not like bad carbs?

Chili. I love the concept of eating something like chili when it's cold outside, but can't stand the combination of beans, tomato and seasonings.

Also, I would used to only use ketchup as a condiment, now I'm into mustard, honey mustard, and mayo, but I still don't like lettuce and tomato on my sandwiches.

Asparagus.... that is one that I "taught" myself to like. I cooked it so many different ways, and ate it up in front of my little ones and acted like it was the most yummy stuff I had ever eaten. I still wouldn't say I "love" it, but I can eat it now. And another one... HOMINY... what is that stuff? bloated corn? YUCK!

I'm a condiment freak too. I can't imagine eating a burger plain - GASP! I can't really think of anything I don't like . . . not crazy about tuna, but I can eat it. I'm just not terribly picky - I'll eat basically anything.

I wish I liked mushrooms. They are my husbands's favorite. I keep trying to like them but they are so gross. Also whenever I go out to eat not liking mushrooms eliminate so many things that sound so delicious.

I'm not sure there is anything else I wish I could like. I am fine not liking coconut, pineapple, canned green beans, licorice. Laurel, I don't care much for milk either, but can tolerate it. I prefer it made into ice cream though. lol

But there are lots of foods I wish I didn't like:

french fries
chocolate
ice cream
bread
cake
pie
cinnamon rolls
candy
sugar

All those things that make me . . . fluffier, shall we say? lol

I wish I could handle any kind of seafood. I can stomach an occasional popcorn shrimp, but that's about it. I tried Lobster in May for the first time. Ick. Though it may have been because it was at a fondue restaurant and not prepared correctly. I can't handle crab legs and how you have to crack into them, but I do like the imitation crab that comes in those yummy crab rangoons at the chinese restaurant!!!

I also wish I liked chicken wings, because dh LOVES them. I can't handle eating meat off the bone like that, but the boneless ones are good (when we can find them!)
I see a lot of people wished they liked asparagus. That's one of my all time favorites!!!

I wish I could learn to like melons. I don't like any of them - cantaloupe, watermelon, or honeydew. I also hate rhubarb. Yuck, yuck, yuck!!! Every family gathering on Dh's side during the summertime has to include this and DH and I both hate it!

Two other foods I can think of that I can't even get into my mouth are oysters and mushrooms.

I'm also not very good about cooked vegetables, except corn, potatoes, and green beans. Any other vegetable that I eat, it has to be raw, including peas. I love a great big green salad piled with raw vegetables. But cook those carrots and I'm out the door!

Julie - you reminded me that I really don't care for watermelon either. And your right, it's ALWAYS at the family gatherings. And what's up with putting salt on watermelon? YUCK . . . maybe sugar . . .

It's not a particular food I wish I liked... it's hot and spicy food in general. I cannot deal with hot stuff. But it would simplify my life so much if I could.

I cannot eat olives. If someone accidently puts an olive in my martini, I can't drink it. I can smell it and taste it. Yuck. Have always wanted to go to/live in the Tuscany region, so I would have to force myself to learn to like them. But alas, I'm living in the land of cheese right now, so I don't have to worry about the olive thing for awhile.

For me, mayo is a food group!!! We eat it on french fries up here. Even my 3 yo asks for "maynay" for his fries.

I wish I could drink coffee!! I love the smell of it and I think when my husband drinks it in the AM that I might like it. It never works!! I'll try it and gag as soon as it hits my mouth. Kinda tastes dirty to me. I can't even drink the flavored kind. I don't like milk unless it is in cereal. When you drink it, it leaves this thick film on the back of your throat. It gives me the chills just thinking about it. I'm weird I guess!!

Try adding lots and lots of sugar too it. I like a little bit of coffee with my sugar and cream.

Let's see....I don't like cheese...except in hot dishes and pizza...and then only sparingly...but none on burgers or in the regular form. I really don't like chocolate.....aspecially no brownies or cake.......there is a reason...involves throwing up!!

It would be yogurt for me. It seems such an easy thing to eat - no prep or anything but I cannot get the first spoonful down.

I don't even want to know how you know what armpits taste like!! LOL!!

For me.......there's not much I don't like that I wished I did.....I for one am glad I hate garbanzo beans and sushi....because the thought of eating either of them make me want to puke (especially the sushi)! Oh, and cantelope......EW! LOVE watermelon though, and I'm OK with honeydew...LOVE the "specialty" melons like casaba, santa claus, etc. Yumma!

I cannot stomach "cheap yellow" mustard though. I prefer a good dijon or a honey mustard...and mayo?! OMG - I love mayo. When I was a kid I would dip my fries in it.

RT - we're so different.....I like foods so hot my nose runs and I break out in a sweat! LOL!! My hubby, on the other hand, is a self-professed "spice woosie" - he cannot handle hot stuff (except me, that is.....HA!)...

Joystamp4 - I used to be the same way - but when I tried that La Creme - it is not your normal yogurt. There isn't a bite to it like with the others. I'm partial to the peach, but it comes in several flavors now. (. . . now back to your regularly scheduled chat . . . )

I wish I liked - ---
yogurt
wine
veggies
fruit
grain stuff (when they say eat healthy and grain foods - what does that MEAN?!)
iced tea
beer
I only like liquor but if you ever go to a party and they don't have liquor, they always have beer and wine!
