SBVC01 Altered CD November 9, 2007

Welcome to the NEW challenge - ScrapBook Variety Challenge

I am so excited to be changing the direction of this challenge. The Sub-Forum name will be changed, but the past theme challenges will stay here just in case you want to revisit them.

For this challenge, you will need to make an altered CD. It's a great way to use those junk CD's you get in the mail. If you don't have one or you don't want to put one on your layout, feel free to use a CD as a pattern and make a faux CD from card stock. I covered mine to resemble a pumpkin, but there are lots of possibilities - titles, pictures, subtitles, covered with pp, tags etc.

Here's my sample spooky

Don't forget to use SBVC01 in your keywords and come back to post a link so we can find your page.

Remember no uploads on Sunday unless you are a Fan Club member.

Yippee I love it Peggy! Thanks so much!

Salster 11-09-2007 11:15 AM

Very cool idea, love your sample!!!
...another idea for a CD is Target. At he front of the store you can usually find those free AOL CD's we don't want anyway!

elliesmom 11-09-2007 11:16 AM

Great challenge, Peggy :)

I'm so excited for your Variety Challenges!! What a fun idea! :D

Favorite Grandma 11-09-2007 11:40 AM

so glad you like it ladies. hope you will give it a try. eveytime I look at a CD now I see other possibilties - big bugs, Christmas bulbs, flowers, base for stamped images - see my wheels keep turning!

cware84 11-09-2007 11:51 AM

Great challenge. I have tons of CD's left over from the last altered CD swap I was in.

another idea for a CD

Stampernmore 11-10-2007 06:32 AM

Great sample page! I love the cd idea too, I will have to give that a try. A variety challenge seems like a better name for what we do, plus gives more options! Good thinking, Peggy!

Elyce123 11-10-2007 07:17 AM

Great idea! Just one question - is it all right if I cover the CD with paper and use as part of my background, and then say where it is?

Favorite Grandma 11-10-2007 05:02 PM

think of the CD as you would chipboard - you can do pretty much anything to it that you can to chipboard

craftycaro 11-10-2007 05:09 PM

Great challenge Peggy...I'm off to play!

slprunning 11-10-2007 06:54 PM

Altered CD Snowmen Ornament

craftycaro 11-11-2007 02:26 AM

First of all, thank you Peggy for the inspiration. I have been wanting to figure out a way to not only scrapbook Gaven's, my nephew, christmas pics but also a way to display them as ornaments every year. The CDs were the perfect medium! As you'll read in my description, I plan to bring them out during Christmas and then put them back in their albums respectively after Christmas. Anyway, this was sooo fun! He just turned two so I only had to make two ornaments, but you can bet this will be an ongoing project for me!

Everyone is doing a great job. These altered CD ornaments are great ideas ladies! I almost have my page complete. Just have to pick up some yarn tomorrow for the finishing touches!

slprunning 11-12-2007 04:48 AM

Whoo-hooo...made one more ornament. I had to run and buy a crop-a-dile after seeing how nice the eyelets look in Carolina's ornaments. Wow...that thing cuts it like nuthin'...Thanks for the wonderful challenge, Peggy!

this is a fun challenge. I needed to use a faux cardboard CD, and it wasn'tr done with any complicated procedures, but love circles added to pages

http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...20126?cat=3592

Next, I can try a more challenging CD, I think it will be an altered refrigerator
magnet or holder for grocery list, so off to produce one. Carolyn

I did something a bit different for this, and I'm not real sure about how I like it on the page I did...but the technique is kinda neat, and I'll be experimenting with it some more as soon as I get some more CDs! ;)
Thanks Peggy for making me try something new!!!

Good Morning

Attached is a close up of my CD...

shayks 11-27-2007 09:21 AM

Sally, I tried to look at your pic, but it is so dark I can't make out anything. I'm sure it's cute.
