SBTC39 Jennies Theme Challenge OCTOBER 13, 2006
This is my first time posting a challenge, so I hope you like it ;)
We all know how very important it is to journal on your scrapbook layouts. We are ultimately creating these to be passed down and to tell our story. Too many of us are overly critical about our own handwriting and print out our journaling instead. I am here to challenge you to USE YOUR OWN HANDWRITING!! Your family and friends do not care if your handwriting is not perfect, not symmetrical, is hard to read, whatever. They want to see your personality come shining through those pages! You dont have to hand-write on every page. You can if youd like, but try at least a page or two, please. If you dont know where to begin, ask yourself the who, what, when, where, why questions. Pick a blank spot, and go for it!
I think youll be surprised and a little bit proud about how great it looks. Try it!
Almost all of my layouts include at least some handwriting, but here is a brand new one created for this challenge:
Jennie, I have always LOVEd your handwriting! I used to HATE using mine on my pages and completely rebelled against doing it - but now I find myself a lot more relaxed about it and use it a lot unless it's a more 'formal' page or if I have A LOT to say. But I still get jealous of you girls with your amazing and beautiful handwriting!!
Great theme challenge! Thanks for posting early, too!
Thanks Jennie! I have struggled with scrappin my handwriting...But I have overcome that battle somewhat. My Mom and friends keep instilling in me that it is important to have my handwriting on my pages for my boys and Randa. They will appreciate it. I know this so I have chilled out about it just a bit...It's that dreaded curse of perfectionism in me that makes it so hard to write on my cardstock or pp!
Fabulous job Jennie! Do challenge us again soon chickie.
great challenge Jennie. Most of my pages when I first started scrapbooking have my handwriting on them; then I started doing the journaling on the computer.
I hope to get a chance to do your challenge, just may not be for a while though, having a busy week. Katie turns three next Wednesday!
Most people don't like their own handwriting...true, but I totally agree with what you're saying!! I would love nothing more to have my grandma's own handwriting, but I don't have it anywhere...believe it or not!!
So I'm sure I can handle this challenge! THANKS!;)

wow, not even a card, letter, note - nothing? that is sad! Maybe someone else in the family has something, just a thought.

Nope. My mom would've gotten something for me if she had it. I remember when I was a little girl, she gave me a bible and I remember it well because it had pictures with it, the edges of the pages were gold and I thought that was neat and she even gave me a book mark to go with it. On the inside cover she wrote a note to me and I have no idea where that bible is...I'm wondering if my mom tossed it because I don't have it. Actually, now that I think of it...I may have some note cards that she wrote recipes on!!! Hmmm....maybe if I can get just ONE pic of her and put her recipes with it...that'd be awesome!! But honestly...that's ALL I have!! And she never liked to get her picture taken AT ALL...so that last theme challenge I did was basically the only picture of us together I have!:(
So yes! These things REALLY are important guys!! I'm telling ya!!;)

I too have trouble with using my own handwriting on my pages. In the beginning of my scrappin' days I didn't do it AT ALL!! But 6 years later, I'm trying to use it every once in a while! I'll try to join in the challenge this week. Thanks!
GREAT challenge for everyone! I'm a huge advocate of using your own handwriting! I know my pages will be cherished even more JUST BECAUSE I do mostly my own handwriting. Plus, to be honest, I think it is quicker than using a computer! I like my own handwriting because it is unique to ME.
Thanks for the great theme challenge!

OK, I did this challenge! I combined this with the sketch challenge this week. I was planning on doing this page and typing the journaling (even tho I normally DO handwrite....) because it is sortof randomly spaced all over the place, but I read this challenge and decided to go ahead and handwrite this journaling too! Great challenge this week!
Betsy, your layout is so awesome I love how you got it all in there and it looks just right. I always forget to write down the musings of my toddlers - of course, Ellie's would be hard to spell because they aren't really words - LOL!
OK...I did this page for one of the VSBN challenges, but it'll work here too!!;)
The only problem is that the site might still be having problems because when I bring my page in for a closer look, it just shows a red X. If it doesn't show up after a while, I'll reload it again. You can see it at a distance if you click on "Wanna See?" in my signature line. SORRY!!:(
I know I already turned one in, but since we have a week with no new challenges because of VSBN...then I get an extra week to turn another one in?!?!?:p

Here's mine...I posted this earlier in the week and forgot to add that it was for this theme challenge. My first thoughts on this page were that I really wanted to use a computer calligraphy font, but I really like how it turned out with my own handwriting. Thanks for the challenge! I love your layout I can't believe that's your handwriting! You should have it made into one of those personal computer fonts ;)
OK...here's another one for you! I didn't get last week's sketch or DIVA done...so here's the theme combined with the same week's sketch and when I've got the DIVA done for last week (or make that 2 weeks ago! ), then I'll probably have another one for this theme!! THANKS!! Here it is:
Awesome layouts, Vicki!
See, it's not too painful to use your own handwriting! It really gives it that personal touch that will be appreciated down the road.
