Default OMG! I can NOT believe this! Bill Maher/breastfeeding views

Ok, I breast fed both of my boys, one for 13 months, one for 15 months. I'm not what you would call huge "lactivist" although I do believe I have the right to feed my children where I so choose, how I so choose. I never once did so where I felt I wasn't being discreet, but sometimes a Mom's got to do what a Mom's got to do right? I have never once in public seen a Mom "whip it out". I've seen moms nurse their babies, but I've seen more boob on a fast food commercial.......

Anyhow, to the point....
I will NEVER EVER watch Bill Maher again. He has crossed the line sooooo FAR!
Check out this post and video clip! Not a word he says is funny - it's rather disturbing and disgusting actually. I will warn you, ig you breast fed, or believe in a woman's right to breast feed, your blood will probably boil!

This might be a good cause to actually write someone about

That guy has issues. Some people are so stupid when it comes to breast feeding. I am taking an online class and we had to discuss breast feeding and one of the girls said "I did not breast feed my child, it is not natural" Umm...... I thought that was why breasts were created. It is much more natural to stick manufactured formula and an artificial nipple in your kids mouth.

My oldest is now 10, but I remember when she was nursing I used to try to hide in the bathroom or somewhere else to feed her if she was hungry when we were out. The turning point for me was when I went in a fast food bathroom and it was disgustingly dirty. Instantly I thought "Umm... I would so not eat my lunch in here, why would I consider feeding the baby in here?"
I walked right out and sat down where my food was and fed her there.

I can't believe people were laughing at the crass things that he was saying, I would have booed and gotten up and walked out of his show. Too many people like him is why so many younger women are afraid to breast feed, not just in public but anywhere.

Ok - let me start by saying that I am currently a BF mom and have been for 13 mo now. I also breastfed via pumping my DS#1 for 15 mo. I have whipped out my boobs and plugged in my machine in many many places.
- airplanes
- airports
- buses / shuttles
- cars
- malls
- restaurants
and on an on. And, many of these places do not have plugs in the bathrooms because they do not want people electrocuting themselves. So, there I would be right out in the middle of the world (nearest to wall outlet - the battery packs just do not give off enough power). In fact, my boobs have been bared in five countries. Probably more boob than the average nursing mom because positioning the pump is quite difficult to do while trying to stay covered up. Once we get the nipps in the right spot being discreet is not a problem, but only because I do not want to be gawked at.
I have no issues w/ BF in public and if you do not like it don't look.
Now, as far as the lactavists and Bill Maher go.....oh my! They are putting words in his mouth and I think that they are completely missing his point and furthering his idea that "This isn't about women taking their breasts out in public, as much as I like that. It's about how petty and parochial our causes have become. How activism has become narcissism." And, (putting of flame suite now) I 100% agree with him on that statement.
I have seen these lactavists and they can be vicious and horrible and make non BF mothers feel rotten. Bill Maher is a political comedian and I think that he was making jokes to get his political point across.

Oh my! If is not natural - I wonder why the human body makes milk. And, why is there no other mammal that can survive w/o its' mothers' breasts.
Hmmmmmm.....is this higher education at work?

The people that attend Bill Maher's shows or watch him were probably rolling w/ laughter. Did you hear the studio audience laughing? He is a political comedian and that is what people are looking for in his form of entertainment.
I do not think that young woman are not BF their children out of fear of public ridicule. BF is actually on the rise and more woman are doing it now than in the last 50 years.

Well, a lot of things are "natural" but I don't necessarily think they should be done in public.

That is exactly what Bill said!
My comment here is only in response to the lady who said that BF was not natural.

I am not sure why you are referring to my post. Please clarify. Nothing in my post is indicative "natural" things being done in public.

I don't have a problem with brestfeeding in public, I've done it ,but I was also covered with a blanket. I think there's a time and place for being discreet.

Pumping in public...that just grosses me out.
