Default How often do you paint the interior of your house?

Our house really needs a new paint job. The people who we bought it from used flat finish and it shows everytime you brush your rear against the wall. Also... all the rooms are a neutral beige color... and I am ready for a little spice! I just DREAD painting so much! Just curious.... how often do you/have you painted the interior of your house?

We've lived here five years and I've only painted once...about two years ago.

We have a "swirl" finish on our walls and they are very rough...they are a huge pain in the bee-hind to paint...that is why I don't do it more often!

I paint anytime I get bored of the current color.

Right now my living room is a deep red and khaki, my kitchen is mellow moss, my laundry room is apricot with a pumpkin pie glaze rubbed over the top.

I love to paint!

Today I have been madly cleaning getting ready for company and I noticed dirt on the walls that won't come off and my paint just looks kind of tired so I decided it's time to paint at least our kitchen and family room (the most used rooms in the house). We probably painted 6 or 7 years ago.

We paint a room or two every year. It's way less work than washing walls....at least for me it is. LOL This year it's the bathroom and the master bedroom.

DH & I only have an apartment, but when I lived with my mom, we completely redid the bedrooms several times. It wasn't a really big deal for us. DH's bedroom has had the same DIRTY light blue paint for 14 years!!! So I really hope realizes I constantly want to redecorate, and I'm not going to decorate once for life!

I've never lived anywhere long enough to re-paint. But since you said the 'previous owners' I suggest you paint right now!! We immediatly paint when we move into a new palce - to give the place our touch. But I love to paint, about every 6 months I paint one room or another - whether it be my house or not. My MIL repaints her upstairs every 3-4 years - the same color!!! I don't want to offend anyone but what is it with older ladies and theat aweful white with a touch of blue in it? Yuck! I know there are lots of people that wouldn't feel comfortable in my green house but I love it. Go for spice!! I only have 1 bedroom (spare/storage) and the open part of my bsmt left blueish-white - everything else is all color. 1 Brown Bathroom, 1 Green bathroom, 1 blue boys room, dark red and brown bedroom (ours), green living room, darker green kitchen, blue and gray 2nd livingroom. COLOR - COLOR - COLOR!!!

I'm with you...I love to have color in my house. We don't completely repaint a room until I am sick of looking at it, but we touch it up whenever needed. We have every room a different color with the exception of the halls and staircase. They are getting repainted this month because I can't handle the paint the builder put in anymore!!! I am not sure why they don't put washable paint in busy areas. I will paint these areas with a neutral color to coordinate with all my other colors!

If I owned my own home, I would probably change colors and paint all the time. I live in base housing, and we repaint the walls the same color when they start looking grungy.

I painted when we moved in five years ago, and haven't touched them since because I did a faux finish in each room (colorwash in living room, sponging in hallway, ragging in dining room, etc.) and then topped it off with stencil borders and accents. Not about to go through all that work every year or two! I love the washability, though, and discovered that satin-finish paint has the same durability without the high shine of gloss/semi-gloss. As long as the paint hasn't been chipped off, a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser will take off any mark or stain!
