Holiday Blitz 2018 Tutorial #3 Chat Thread

Today's tutorial: Witch Hat Clip - Transmogrified into a Pilgrim Hat
Author: Kelly Acheson (Technique_Freak)
Gallery: Technique Spotlight >> Holiday Blitz Gallery >> Witch Hat Clip
Keyword: 2018BLITZ3
Date: Nov. 8, 2018

I loved Kelly's tutorial, and I've updated it for Thanksgiving into an adorable Pilgrim Hat for place cards, treat bags and more. For my hat I used the Hero Arts Circle Infinity Dies - the 2.75" circle and the 1.5" circle. Then the top pieces that form the pipe of the hat I just slightly tapered, so that the bottom part is wider and what the circle rests on.

So much fun to create these hats, I'll use mine on my Christmas table on the glaces maybe I'll write the names on the white part...

Oh shucks, I have never purchased mini clothes pins. "What would I use them for?" Silly me!

I think I'll have to go shopping soon.

Thanks for the cute design! I am confused with the directions though. Would you please explain how you made the top of the hat portion? I used the two circles, but am not getting the hat. I can sketch it but can't visualize how to get the shape of the hat using the second circle in conjunction with the first.

Kim, you use it (mini clothespin) to clip to a surface, much the same way you would use a paperclip or a mini binder clip.

you use only the outer circle for the hat just one, you slide it over the top triangles and fold them together, I used a big clothespin and made it just bigger

Heart 2018BLITZ3 Season's Greetings

What a cool tutorial! I used some lettered paper along with shiny red for the brim and "jewels" for the hat decorations- finishing with a mini green pom pom for the top. Included the requisite bow with striped candy cane washi tape for fun. Here's Season's Greetings

Here's my card with a modification...I didn't have any mini clothespins, so I used a binder clip for my hat. tfl
