Monticello is Thomas Jefferson's home in Charlottesville, VA and is a beautiful place to visit. We lived in the Norfolk area of Virginia for most of DH's 25 year Navy career and have been here in North Central Indiana since fall of 2005 when he retired from the USN and came to seminary in Winona Lake, IN.

Never been there that I know of either!

My biological sperm donor was in the Navy, thus I was born there.

Looks like dendritic and luminary are topping the tutorial list! Although a lot of you mentioned coloring.

Here are our winners! Let's show them some love!

Ooh, I did love the Dendritic technique and have already used it since! I love the luminaries people have made just haven't had a chance to tackle that one yet.....aka I stink at following directions for 3D objects!

Those techniques were recent, so fresh in everyone's mind. But I've done many many others over the years so my answer was all of them!

I had my tablet in bed with me last night. I had trouble sleeping so I'd listen to tutorials and such. I think I filled out the winners form for my prize, but not sure. Maybe I just dreamed it? I'm dangerous when I'm sleepy! LOL

Congrats to the new winners! Wonderful cards! I loved the dendritic technique. I had never seen this before, yet is was so simple to do with wonderful results. I also created several alcohol ink background for FF but I never got around to using them on my cards.

so here is a question for the group------I have now used alcohol inks on the yupo paper, on bare metal tins, and am wondering if you can use it on a gessoed(is that a word) metal surface.....or even a canvas one? Hang with me....my public school offered no art classes, I had to take an intro class as an elementary ed major in college and would have failed it if two of the guys hadn't helped me with every major project(make a larger than life insect from clay--if it blows up in the kiln you fail,,,,,make a resist at least 12 x 14 using only two colors, use positive and negative space with black and white to show an emotion). So the art world has lots of new things for me to stumble around with. Even in my photography I avoid the fancy/fun things in photoshop elements.....what I click is what you get....... So long ramble aside----can you do what I asked first??????

Personally, Pansy, I haven't tried the alcohol ink on a gessoed surface, but I would give it a try, at least try in a little spot on a project scrap if possible.
Hope your eye exam produced happy results, at least after the dialation wears off.

I think almost every state has a Monticello in it! My little Hoosier town population is arouind 5500 until summer hits us with a pop. of arounf 50,000! Monticello, Indiana is a resort town with 2 manmade lakes, lots of summer homes and lake activity, and an amusement park called Indiana Beach...the park theme/mascot is a crow called IB Crow...There's More Than Corn in Indiana! One of the financial institution's building is modeled after Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello. Just a bit of my hometown trivia! LOL

We're a lake town too but our Laker population boom is not quite as dramatic. We have Syracuse Lake and Lake Wawasee which is the largest natural lake in Indiana. Lots of small lakes throughout the county.

I think AI work best on non-porous substrates so the ink will flow rather than sink into the canvas. Not sure if gesso will prime the canvas for AI (never tried it on gessoed canvas)

The only lake effect we have in Mishawaka is lake effect snow from Lake Michigan. DH and I were recently at Indiana Beach for an antiquing day out and about looking for interesting finds. Small world.

Yes, I decorate minimally because our home is small. There are, however, wreaths on every outside door and on the shutters!

well, decorate my house for Christmas, and Thanksgiving and Halloween and Valentines Day and Kansas Day and St. Patricks day and 4th of July....so yep Christmas is the big one---M and M village, mouse tree, regular tree, table runners (have about 6 for December but have at least one for every month of the year ---which my mom made for me when my kids were younger....it is fun to swap them out each month and put my Charming Tails collectibles that "match" the month out with the runners as well. No lighted display at my house this year due to change in life but most of the rest will emerge after Saturday....when I will attend and hopefully sell most of what I take to the only craft fair I do each year.

As I live by myself, I don't decorate as much as I used to when I had three kids and a husband in the house; but I do still decorate. I bought a new skinny Christmas tree last year, and I always put up my Nativity set. I put a wreath on my front door other small decorations around the house.

I don't even have my house decorated from when we repainted after the last child got married!

We told them to take what they wanted from the house when they married...one son literally took pictures off the walls that he liked! We repainted and the walls are empty...

Just tonight my husband and I were talking about what we want to hang on the walls...

His choice...waterfall pictures that he took this past spring and summer here in MN...

Yes, I decorate...though I haven't for Christmas yet. I need to get on that! I put out my snowman collection...and tend to leave them out longer than Christmas because hey, they are winter decorations, right?

Haha! I'm always arguing with my husband over what's a Christmas decoration and what's a winter decoration. I love them both.
My house always feels so warm and cozy with the Christmas decorations out.

I actually have a few decorations up already which is unusual for me. I got my Thanksgiving decorations up this year, but late so it was still very tidy which made it easy to whip those away and put the Christmas ones up in that area.I also recently bought some better storage for my Christmas things. I now put things away by location instead of category which makes it easier to decorate. In years where we're traveling or if I'm overwhelmed and making Christmas simpler, I put up far less and this has made it much simpler.
