Challenge Title: Milagros - Folk Art Traditions
Hostess: rgrohall (I'm Rebecca!) Keyword: FF16rgrohall Date: Monday, October 17th ***************CHALLENGE DESCRIPTION******************* On a recent trip to the Land o Lydia (aka Texas) while shopping, I came across a whole wall of Milagros metalwork for your home (or office). Now you are probably wondering -what is a milagro? Milagro means "miracle" and once upon a time milagros represented wishes and thanks offered in prayers. They are traditional Hispanic folk art. Your card challenge is to incorporate metal, foil, tin, metallic cardstock or even metallic paint into your project. Choose a traditional Milagros symbol of a heart, eyes, hands, crowns, praying figures or other objects with a symbolic meaning. Holidays are a wonderful time for us to give thanks or ask for prayers for family and friends. http://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.spli...e3ba78092e.jpg Some ideas of ways you can work this into your project: Embossing on Metal (this Splitcoast Tutorial shows you the basics: http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...s/metalflower/) Metallic card stock (pattern created, attached) Aluminum foil adhered to cardstock Jewelry charms Metallic paint Faux Patina (this Splitcoast tutorial shows you the basics: http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...ls/fauxpatina/) Soda cans (this Splitcoast Tutorial shows you the basics of working with soda cans: http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...ials/popstars/) Foil tape (this Splitcoast tutorial will show you the basics http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...xmetalfigures/) VIEW THE GALLERY FOR THIS CHALLENGE HERE View the Falliday Fest Gallery HERE View the Falliday Fest Master Challenge Thread HERE UPLOADING INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Helllllooooooooooooo ladies!!! I am so excited to be here :-)

A challenge for me, since altho I use the Krylon metallic paint pens quite often, I don't usually incorporate other metals on my cards. Thanks.
LOVE YOU |

I wonder if capitalization in the keyword matters? In your initial post its FF16rgrohall but the header here is FF16Rgrohall.
Anyway, here's what I came up with. Hope it is OK. FF16rgrohall milagros by muscrat - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers |

Love this challenge! I used household foil for my die cut hearts and framing for my wedding card- adding some coloring. Finished with a washi tape/scalloped border and a twine bow. Here's FF16rgrohall together forever

Great challenge, Rebecca! I ended up making three cards. The two with the red foil were my original idea, then I decided to try the Faux Patina technique. Since I had never done it before, I went to our trusty Splitcoast tutorials. I think I kinda overdid the versamark ink, and the gold embossing powder, but I really like the look, and will defiinitely try it again. Thanks so much for stretching the left brain, Rebecca!

Tin trial
I found a whole roll of this thin metal in my in-laws stuff as we were clearing their house and saved it "just in case". Well...here comes a challenge and look what I have to play with! I've never used any metal like this before on a card or in my cuttlebug and was surprised to find how easy it was to cut, emboss, and adhere. Not sure what I was waiting for but glad you pushed me to once again try something new!

I had to go out of my comfort zone for this card but I loved it. I had just purchased some of the nuve embellishment mousse and thought this would be perfect for my card. Thank you for challenging us.

FF16RGrohall, Milagros Snowflake- snc by stampscout - Cards and Paper Crafts at SplitcoaststampersI didn't have anything folk artsy and apparently my metallic papers are stored in some unpacked box. The charm is all I could find that qualified as metallic so here's a very clean and simple, and super easy, card.
